I think it's because the new comment system has not been up long enough yet for all those comments to start getting pushed down.
actually new system is all up and running i saw it on almost every video that i was commenting on,its actually pretty easy to rank comments now,even after new update

Yea, but if you're commenting on a video that does not get a lot of comments every minute you will see comments from probably a week ago still.

They're kind of back. They don't go by as fast as a day ago but they also don't stick. Mine stayed top for 10-15 minutes getting manual upvotes as well as ones from people who were actually watching the video. If I had done this about 4 days ago it would have been there for at least an hour. (It was a new video with comments every few seconds)

I wouldn't say that is "dead" It's far from dead imo.
I have one problem sometimes I post one comment and my shows #2 not on top. It's weird cause the comment on top doesn't even have likes or anything.

It's pretty dead. Unless they put it back to the old Google+ top comments or just the original top comments. The old Google+ comments were amazing, could keep a top comment for hours and you can't get reported.

Here is what I learned:
- Top Comments are sorted by quality accounts (age, normal person activity) nothing else.
- Thumbs up means nothing anymore just more like you agree with the comment says
- New accounts comments will only show in newest first tab
Pretty dumb system I'd say.. what if a new commenter (new account) leaves a good comment, no one will ever see it.

Do you have any tip to prevent ghosting? i post only 1 spammy comment with the part of my video from 8 month yt acc example( free iphones /watch98asd) and ghosted immediately... Cleared cache and cookies posted again non spam comment with same account and its not ghosted.

So it looks like all my comments are now getting ghosted. Damn YouTube!
SO what is working for people? Some are saying it's just an aged quality account that matters, but what ranks it after that? Is it upvotes and replies or a combination of the both?
My results: Posted comment with fairly new account, upvoted 13 times and gave it 5 replies from different accounts and it's still sitting in the same spot. The video I made the comment on is old and gets about 1 or 2 comments per week. What else should I try?
