Uplink Port Speed

Hi,

I bought a VPS from PowerUpHosting and I added $10 for the 1K MBPS uplink port speed.

Will it make it faster for GSA? I had speed problems with TrustVM before and random lagging, so hopefully PUH will prove themselves.

agree, in that way you would know what effect has caused after buying and what was the uplink before buying, btw contact the vps provider.

By 1k you mean 1gbit.

Depending on the network provider and data center that the server is hosted in, you will 99% never be able to utilise 1000mpbs = 128mb/s

Also proxies are the main limiting factor for GSA. Even if you are using private proxies, remember that these guys will most likely have 254 (a whole c class) ips on 1 server which probably has a 1gbit port as well.

So regardless of your setup, your sharing bandwidth. If all went well, you would be able to push 300-400mbps if your lucky.

But by that point you'd probably be limited by your ram, CPU and more importantly Disk I/O. When you are on a VPS your sharing a hard drive (powerup doesn't look like its using RAID) so if your sharing a server with 30 other VPS's, and lets assume the average read speed of the hard drive is 120mb/s, your only technically get around 4mb/s of disk I/O which is only 32mbits in bandwidth turns.

Might be a bit confusing, but PowerUp prices are pretty expensive. You can get a dedicated server for the same price as their basic plan. Here's some options:
