If Google can't detect that it's duplicate content and the content is readable and it's relevant to your site there's no reason you can't use it. But have you heard about advego plagiatus ? It searches and if google don`t find the same words the uniqueness is 100% and this content I can use ?

TBH, I have seen companies that produce articles for all of their clients sites who use their CMS, publish identical articles on all 20+ sites at the same time, all indexed, no penalties.

However this may be because of the time of posting, ie News sites, which in theory have massive dup' content, but due to the nature of it, is obviously allowed.

I have used the ezine article + copyscape trick to find articles to spin, and have had no problem so far.

Doesn't sound like much of a plan to me...if you just spin content that isn't great to start with you are gonna end up with junk

You need to try to add value to get anything ranked these days - just regurgitating what's already out there is tough to rank

If you are going to invest your time and effort in starting a website then I highly recommend you do it properly.

Pay someone to write some good quality articles especially on a site you want to make money from. You can get decent articles written on fiverr without breaking the bank (they won't be perfect but at least they are better than spun content).

If you are going to use other people's content, then you should para phrase and quote some parts of the story (maybe a paragraph).

I'm not sure what percentage total is considered duplicate content but i would stick to no more than 20% identical and 80% original in an article. There is no exact science... well... I'm sure there is but i don't know a 'one size fits all' formula.

Ask yourself this question: "Will I read/trust a website with a shitty content, no grammar structure and no insight?"

If the answer is NO, then probably even if Google doesn't penalize you, visitors will!

Nope, and using it is a guide only really.

Sometimes 100% unique content is ignored by Google - sometimes 100% copied content is indexed again by them.
Copyscape has nothing to do with Google - at best it's a way to see if stuff you've paid for is really unique - at worst it's distraction or a placebo.
It has nothing to do with Google. It's not theirs, they don't use it, and the %age you get means nothing in terms of an articles ability to index.

Syndication, curation are all things that work in moderation.
In practice syndicating 20x seems ok - many more than that and it's normally not - unless the first indexed site is a massive and pre-established authority
