Just wondering if anyone here has ever tried wix to build a site, I have been playing around with wix for a few hours and it's extremely easy to use and the templates are pretty good considering I was only using the free templates. I really haven't done any research to see if it would be good for seo they say they use HTML 5 which has pros and cons to it. It also has add-ons to help with seo I'm considering using wix instead of wordpress just because of how easy it is to make a good looking site. The only real downfall I can see is that it's not as popular as wordpress and doesn't have nearly the same amount of plugins or "add-ons"

I see Wix as being 90% marketing, and 10% substance. You never see Wix results in the search engines, nor do you see legitimate, established and fully-professional businesses using Wix as their "public face". Maybe this could change, IDK. I will say that even those businesses that use Facebook as their primary online point of contact look extremely half-assed and amateurish, even if by reading between the lines you can tell that the business is fully-professional. By this, I think of one case in particular where a Plumber had photos of jobs he had done involving quite a lot of heavy equipment; expensive tools that the kid next door isn't going to be able to afford. But I thought the whole thing was stupid, using Facebook as your main internet page, as to my perception it feels more "here today, gone tomorrow" than if a company has invested in a full-on professional website.

So, if that's my reaction to Facebook, and assuming my reaction is typical, I assume that the public's reaction to Wix is going to be even worse than that.

And so what? Wix conveys the idea that the business and the business owner is half-assed and amateurish, so all you've done is increase the number of people that are getting a bad impression of your client's business. She's not paying you, is she?

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that a business that uses Wix as their primary internet interface looks half-assed and amateurish. And there's nothing "fantastic" about Wix. It's an average free websites in a class of free websites that are sub-standard when compared to real websites. And the businesses you've "worked with" are not "happy" with it. That's Sales/Marketing bullshit language. No real people express themselves like that. Perhaps you've never read the Yelp review standards and how to spot a fake reviews and/or account? Maybe you think you are talking to an audience of dumb retail customers instead of internet marketing professionals that know the game better than you do? And finally, Wix doesn't "rank well", nor any different than any other website. It gets no special juice, although I would assume that it's SEO opportunities are dramatically limited when compared to CMS or even WordPress.

Not only do Wix sites have the stigma of having their domain name polluted by some other companies' brand, but what intelligent business owner is going to invest into a website that is shackled to Wix and cannot be moved around from host to host as the website owner sees fit? It's almost as dumb as having your website chained to Network Solutions with their proprietary CMS that cannot be translated or edited with anything other than Network Solution's proprietary GUI. Meaning, if you move the site, you can no longer make changes to it. I doubt Wix even lets you move the site. And I have to wonder about a so-called "SEO" that deliberately misleads their paying customers into such a substandard "solution". Whether they hate you now or later, the hating is inevitable, once they realize what you've done to them.
