Anyone else do this or something similar?

I've had some success recently simply viewing the "Just Sold" to filter out a lot of the scams and made-for-flippa sites, look for sites that are relatively new and legit and have proven traffic and revenue. Sometimes the auctions go into great detail on their methods. I look at what they did, determine if it can be replicated and improved.

It's almost like reading IM journals, except you get to only view the successful ones and fast forward to the end.

I'd say this is pretty much what anyone flipping sites does?

I sold a site before on Flippa, it was the most active for its last 2 days, sold for 20x the monthly earnings. 1 month later there were like 15 new sites targeting the same kws, with the same structure ranking in the first 2 pages of Google. Someone even used my theme and my exact ad placements. So yeah mate, people doing this from ages.

Absolutely! When a successful niche is leaked, expect a dozen of similar sites.

You need to also make your own research on their keywords.

Because some of the sites are just for scams.

Flippa is also good for keyword research...

I've done this plenty of times and it's a great way to find targeted performing keywords.

Thats a good info. Cuts lot of keyword research and seo work.

I think you have pissed alot of people off with this thread being rated 1 star. It works very well - some people like to think its a secret.
