Its definitely best to cast a very wide net and then hold on to the best and develop an actual relationship with them. They will be willing to hook you up big time.

Good method. If you have a Chinese friend or if you can find a reliable Chinese dropshipper, you can bank hard.

If you look at their current hot selling items you can probably find some good ones for Christmas.

Excellent method! It's better to sell them earlier though as you mentioned because if the buyer receives the costume right before Halloween they can wear it and return it (or claim snad). It can be used for Thanksgiving too! Think of how many soccer moms want to dress their children up as turkeys or pilgrims:haha:

Yeah unfortunately its too late but this should get some people to form a plan now and figures out which suppliers are best and if they will house the items themselves or find a supplier willing to dropship.

So for me I think it would be a good idea to use this idea for Christmas ... but it is difficult to find popular Christmas items on eBay ... also someone mentioned taobao here ... well not sure, but the things I found on taobao, after you add shipping and fees for your taobao agent, you can't really make a big profit ...
alibaba or aliexpress is better, you do not need an agent, you can buy youself, but you have to find a supplier with decent shipping fees ... because if you use the standard airmail, you will have to wait for ages .... My item was shipped on Oct 12 and still not here ...

Yes, people tend to forget there's still a huge offline market. Just sell them on FB and CL.

You are right, it can be done .... but it is quite hard.
For Halloween, it is super easy. What will sell for halloween? Of course pumpkins and customs.Selling pumpkins on eBay won't work right, so it is only about costumes.
But for Christmas, everything could be sold, perfume, electronics, computers, clothes, tablets, phones etc.
It is very difficult to tell which of these items will sell well and which will have a low demand ....
