Alibaba Legit? Could it be this cheap..?

Hi

I saw this item on Alibaba http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/566266392/Intel_Core_I7_990x_Processor.html

Its an Intel Core I7 990x Processor which on Amazon goes for between $750 - $1250. Could it be legit for only $100?

Also, assuming it is legit does this mean it is a replica that works like Intel or is it actually manufactured by Intel? If it is how in the world can they get it for so cheap?
This seller is 2 yr gold supplier + allows Escrow.
There are similar sellers with 4+ years Gold on Alibaba.

Any insight?

Well, of course I understand to buy only from Gold Sellers. However, i have read (on BHW actually) that even these can scam you.. Does anyone have personal experience on Alibaba?

I do.

While I've never been scammed by a Gold Seller, I have been delivered product of a lower quality than what was promised. That being said they gave me a 12% reduction on the total price based on that.
Always play it safe. Spell out in exact terms what you're looking for, make them promise they can deliver it and what will happen if it isn't delivered. Remember, most of these suppliers English is their second language. Make sure all correspondence is written in a way that even a five year old could follow your instructions. Make them repeat everything back to you so you're certain they've understood.
Always get a sample first, regardless of what they say, or try and persuade you.
Don't pay for the sample, if they are being hard headed, do not pay an excessive amount and only pay if they agree to take the sample cost amount off the initial order when placed.

No they cant scam you if you have brain.

To work with Alibaba sellers is quite a lottery - I've been there since they launch it and I can say that I've made some good deals in the past with sellers but I used Alibaba only to get the knowledge about the existence of their offer. After that I just went there and see it with my own eyes. If you want to buy a single piece from Alibaba forget about - this site is made for bulk sales not for retail. I strongly recommend Alibaba but for large businesses

Alibaba is usually a bulk supplier from mainland China. Once you manufacture a prototype (in US) you would go to China to get it massed produced for a lot less. Since they are wholesalers, their prices usually are very cheap. However, you really have to watch out for shipping costs and lead times. Anything shipped overseas to the US can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months and sometimes cost more than the product is worth, which is why you usually have to purchase a large quantity. Those processors look like a good deal since they are probably manufactured in China.
