chrome ignores proxy settings?

Guys,

Is it possible that Chrome gives away your real IP regardless the proxy settings? I was using Chrome version: 30.0.1599.101, I had a proxy set, yet when I checked "what's my ip", my real IP was showed.

I installed firefox on the very same machine, didn't change anything in the settings, and when I searched the same in Firefox, my proxy address was showed as it was supposed to. So.. have you expreienced something like this?

I think this is when I stopped using Chrome..

I wonder why you guys use Chrome at first place? Even more i wonder why you guys use gmail. It is like manually serving to Google all they need to know about your SEO activities

Try clearing your cache and then reloading the page. Google caches pages on your computer, so the new ip won't show up.

or try to use proxifier and clear cookies

This was within a virtual machine, where this proxy has always been set. Therefore, it couldn't be the cache.

Clear out your cookies using Ccleaner and my advice is to forget using Chrome or Gmail

Yeah, lesson learned about Chrome.

Interestingly, I've checked a few more sites I surely has never visited before, but they are all showing the same. So, from Chrome, they show my real IP, while the very same sites from Firefox show the proxy's address.

I also tried to set an invalid proxy, just to se what happens. From Chrome, it's still the same, as if proxy wouldn't even been set. From Firefox, I'm getting invalid proxy. Weird...

With Chrome you don't call it "leaking", that's just how it's supposed to work. It "leaks" EVERYTHING you type into the URL bar back to Google without using the proxy settings. It periodically sends your IP and other data, etc....

Chrome is Google's most advanced piece of spyware ever. Even when you close the browser, it leaves GoogleUpdate.exe open spying on you. If you're a web user of any kind and you use Chrome, you're giving up your privacy completely. If you're a SEO and you use Chrome, then you're not.

Chrome can check if you got a direct internet connection along with the proxy settings. If you do it uses that to leak your data instead of the proxy settings.

Thank you guys for the comments. I'll use something else than Chrome...
It was weird though, no matter what I set to proxy it was completely ignored. Even after restart.. It seems like a bug.

Guys, can I somehow block my real IP from being used from a virtual machine? What I'm thinking is, set something to the hosts file or to the firewall to block everything if proxy is not used?
The problem is, I don't get to know if my proxy is not in use (just like it happened), unless I explicitly check.

Using firefox instead of chrome is okay, but I usually use G webmaster tools to admin my sites and I also set author to the blog entries. How am i supposed to do this without having a G account?
The reason I'm doing this is, I'm trying to make my blog sites look as legit as possible. I mean, if you were a legit webmaster, wouldn't you do all these to your precious site? Wouldn't you take care? Wouldn't you want to add yourself as editor, delete "not found" pages etc...

i just use chrome to check if my websites are displayed correctly for all browsers. Apart from it, i don't use that spying shit.

Chrome uses it's own proxy settings which are set in it's "Settings". Firefox and Internet Explorer, however, are using the global (System wide) options. If you change proxy setting in Firefox, the same setting will be applied to Internet Explorer. If you change the settings in Chrome, the other 2 browsers will not use that change.

Simply put - changing proxy settings on Firefox, will also change them for Inter Explorer. Changing proxy settings in Chrome, will not affect the other 2 browsers.

I use Foxy Proxy to manage my proxy needs and I always doble check if my real IP is showing, so far, Foxyproxy has never leaked my real ip. Consider using it!

Thanks. My problem is with double check part. Do you know any way besides checking it via a website like "what's my ip"? As I use virtual machines, I would forbid/block my real IP somehow, but I don't know if that's possible.
