Inquiry about choice of dedicated server

Hi guys,

I am wondering about the choice of dedicated server which will offer me the best price to my requirements. I am looking the dedicated server which will be the most efficient for website which offer video hosting services as well as live video streaming. Personally, on to start the website I am thinking about specification like this:

Processor
Intel Quad-Core Xeon E3-1230
RAM
8GB DDR3
Disk
4x1TB SATA2
Traffic
100Mbps Unmetered (Volume network)

I assume that daily visits will be something around 3000-4000 at start and if everything will go fine then will be increasing.

What are your opinions and proposed specifications for my assumptions? I would be grateful for your all posts, as well as the best posts will be thanked

You might wanna switch to SSD than SATA2 to manage the IO load issue though. And if you have a lil more budget, you might wanna upgrade your processor to E3-1275v2. It's 30x faster than 1230. I'm currently using it. You'll see a huge difference in performance.

1230 and 1230v2 is two different stuff. But still, 1275 is faster and more power. That's the point.

You will not notice the difference between a v1 and v2 1230. You will probably won't even notice the difference between the 1275 either.

The only real difference between Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge CPU's is the power usage and the heat which neither will effect the end user.

If you are streaming you will 100% need a 1gbps or faster connection. As well as that, you will have to make sure you have a hardware RAID card running RAID10 as a single drive will not be able to keep up with your network speed. Better yet get a SSD but that's going to be more expensive.

Also for streaming sites, the network is very important as you'll probably never be able to max out 1gbps on your line, but depending on your provider this can fluctuate between 200-600mbps which isn't going to be very helpful at peak times.

Just an FYI. 1230v3's are out based on Haswell.
