Attempting to build a private blog network

Im giving this a go, have a few questions.

1. I found a chinese expired domain, this is what it says on majestic seo. This a good example of a domain to buy? Most of the links are just the url (without www. or .com)(ex. anchor is "domainname" or "blackhatworld"). The links are all coming from chinese sites as well. ALSO, prchecker.net says its a PR 0.

2. What do I do with the domain once I buy it?
3. How many domains would I need, say they're all PR2, to rank a low competition keyword?

i suggest you look for dropped domains that kept their PR and are still indexed in order to spare some money... also a but load of links (even bad spam ones) is a good thing

seeing how you're going for a private network the names of the domains don't matter as long as they don't contain penalized terms...

at this time no one really knows if PR will still be an important metric in 6 months from now, but i suggest you go for high DA and PA rather than PR (unless you want to use this network to sell links)

also apparently the huge buzz around these networks is having a different C class for each website which is such a hassle... i'm actually trying this myself but going with IPV6 because there's just so many of them available and harder to connect to each other

after getting all the websites set up (different themes and designs and what not) i suggest you use a good content plugin and start flooding them with content or just hit article directories and get really good content in exchange for links, this might sound like a hassle but it helps, especially because if you add link less spun content and then start linking it looks weird while getting good content from article directories, even in return for links looks a lot more natural

another thing is you have to keep adding content and links in the same velocity you started and peaked with (+/- 10-20%) in order to not trigger any auto filters

i don't advise you to use a specified # of links like a lot of people here are selling ... (15 homepage links then it's closed or stuff like that) because those are just asking to be penalized ... 15 posts with 1 link outside and then content adding stops... yeah... you're so legit google should just push the links you host to #1 because you're such an authority source that nothing else in the whole WWW is important enough to get on your homepage / on your website EVER !

Pretty much sums it up. Great tip about hitting up article directories for free content. And most importantly, with everything you do, moderation and diversity are key. Some of your sites should use that tactic for content, some of your sites should except guest posts, some of your sites should use very very HQ spun content, and last, a good amount of your sites should use handwritten content.

I agree with all of your points, great post, but I disagree with the above quote- I avoid domains that were spammed to death and look for high DA/PA sites that have natural link profiles (and avoid any domains in niches such as Ugg boots, SEO, any other notoriously spammed niches), because from what I've found, if someone put all that work into SEOing the site the only real reason they would drop it is if the domain was penalized, making it useless for private blog networks.

But that's just my findings, to each their own.

The metrics for that site are bad- way too many backlinks compared to the number of referring domains. Chances are that the site has been spammed.

Also, the trust flow is too low. Both citation flow and trust flow should be more than 10. The trust flow/citation flow ratio should ideally be around 1 for a good domain.

No its not a good domain to buy because such domains don't pass much PR value to the linking out domain. So if you are setting up a blog network be safe and search for domains with clean link profile

^Correct and sadly is the case with many Chinese domain names since they spam and abuse them. A lot of Chinese business is
based on quick cash and not long term business.
