Please my isp just all of a sudden stopped offering unlimited data plans. the max plan is 40gb per month for $200 Please what software can I use so I can browse unlimited without finishing my house 40gb? Like a vpn service or anything I'll subscribe to.

Try using any of these:
1. A vpn that compresses data like hotspot shield.
2. Opera browser with Turbo on.
3. You could try using different vpn's like your freedom or something like that.
4. Try to find open ports if you found some then find a vpn that uses that port for tunnling. This is most effective way.

Agree with this. Dump that isp. And $200 a month is alot for 40gb only. My isp offers 7gb/day for only $40/month..
Please How do I use a VPS and remote desktop? and be able to download more than my 40gb data cap?
Yea third world problems. I'm in Africa and that's the highest offered by any ISP. even at the stupid speeds.

That's terrible. I blow through 40GB in a day. Id say your best option is the remote destop.
Also if you can adjust the frame rate to as little as possible to conserve even more.

Thanks a lot. I don't understand how it works. I googled how to transfer large files from vps to my computer and was told I can use ftp but it will consume my data also.
my question now is. if I downlaod a 2gb file on my vps and have like 1gb data remaining on my router/modem how do I transfer the file to my own pc without consuming my data?

No you cannot transfer your files from anywhere to your computer without losing your data.
buy some vpn subscription 2-3 and use them by checking which one is perfect for you and gives you enough gb for whole month and then switch you isp plan to lower one and subscribe the vpn for long time

It is OK being a noob but what you are trying to do is impossible, you can try compression but that is unlikely you will be able to squeeze 2gb down to 1gb.
What files are you attempting to transfer? It is not a torrent is it?
The purpose of using the VPS is so that all transfers and files remain there and don't eat into your allowance.
I may advise a Windows VPS. You can connect it via Windows built-in RDP.
MSTSC.EXE app on your side.
As for compression, 2gb file is very much unlikely gonna shrink down to 1gb, because such large files are usually movies, software distros, etc - already compressed files.

Mate.. Everyone already said it - you can't download files to your own computer whether you use VPS or not. The files downloaded will stay on the remote computer (VPS) and you will be able to use them there.
Do not try to watch movies that you have downloaded to the VPS, as video data would still need to be transferred over to your own computer, which will eat your bandwidth. Most of the VPS do not have enough of video memory to watch videos anyway.
As said before, you can have the downloads stored on your computer by using a VPN, however, that will eat up your bandwidth too, as all the VPN would do is offer some compressions, but it's not going to be that good to actually lower your bandwidth consumption rate.
