Combining several niche websites into one

I currently have over 10 websites that I need to keep track off (upgrading, updating, linkbuilding etc etc) and it's becoming quite a hassle for me to control alone despite the websites earning decent money.

Hence my question, can I combine the websites into one large authority website when it's 10 different niches? There's about 500 articles written in total and I'd rather focus on one big website (and writing whatever I feel like) instead of being forced to creating 10 copies of everything.

Obviously the question isn't "Can I do it" but rather "Is it possible to-do without hurting the rankings"?

My suggestion is to find ways that they are related and try to join them, Kinda like transitional mediums... Theoretically keyword diversity is supposed to help your site not hurt it.
So if the topics are unrelated it should not really matter so long as your bounce rate isn't ridiculously high. You know what I mean?

Moreover, Matt Cutts himself said,

"The amount of PageRank that dissipates through a 301 is currently identical to the amount of PageRank that dissipates through a link."

So you shouldnt experience any problems SEO wise.

Don't do this man. You'll lose your rankings.
If your websites are about for example: acne removal, skin care, face cream etc etc - then go for one website
but if your websites are like: blue widget, payday loan, acne removal, tech stuff.. then do not do this by any means. Trust me, relevancy is the key and you'll screw up your sites by screwing up the relevancy

I recently did this after a wet winged penguin slap. However my sites were quite related. It just gave my new large site more power.
