Long story short:

Been a member of paypal for a while. Sold high dollar items no issues. Sold a few items totaling about 2500USD. Problem is me and the ex had a fight the other day, a few of these items were broken, now I have nothing to send to my buyers and they will file a claim with paypal and obviously win. Spent about half the money already so refunding all is impossible and partial is about the only thing I can do.

Now, what can I do? Obviously, my account will go negative -2500 with paypal. Will they try to take it from my bank account that I use with paypal? Lets say my bank is bank of America. Should I call the bank or go there and just close the account ASAP? Then try to make payments with paypal on what I will owe them?

Any help/advise would be appreciated.

About me, my credit is shot, lost my home a few years ago, have 0 assets and currently unemployed. So, cant get blood from a stone.......

Yes they are going to attack your bank account soon. Take the steps below to save your bank.

1. Before it is in the red remove the bank account. (once it is in the red you can no longer unlink it!)
2. If they do not allow you to unlink the bank account or your too late and the account is in the red then you can put a stop block
with your bank to block any charge with PayPal. Doing so cost like $30 or so per stop. They charge for this service.

I didn't refund anything. I have about half left of the 2500. The rest I spent on bills. I have less than 20 bucks in my bank accounts at this moment. I was going to go to the bank on Monday and close all my accounts. I definitely don't want paypal in 1-2 weeks start trying to debit my account for 2500 (3 transactions, 800, 800, 900) and have my account go in the red and I have to deal with fees on top of fees.

I could put the 1200 or so in and refund that much.

You do not need to close your bank accounts man. All you need to do is unlink them from your PayPal account. Then PayPal is no
longer legally authorized to touch them. Do it before you see any disputes and act now.

Madstacks,

Thanks for the quick response.

1) I will try and unlink it, if that works, they cant try to put it back and attack it can they?

2) if #1 didn't work, do I have to tell the bank the SPECIFIC ($800, $800, $900) amounts they are going to try and take? Or will they try for the entire $2500 all at once? or will they simply block ALL paypal debits? Should I just say screw it and close out the account and be done with it? or should I still block them, and still close it? I read somewhere, even if its closed, they can try to recoup their money and your account will get hit with a negative balance?

3) how in the world would the bank approve a 900 dollar debit when I have 20 dollars in my account!?

They will probably take it as another loan. Get a job and earn back the money then pay them back.

Sure, glad to help man. Correct. They cannot legally and will not touch your bank account if you successfully unlink it from your
PayPal account which you should be able to do since the balance is not in the negative and it is currently not suspended. I went through something similar and the bank told me I needed to tell them the exact amount but they assured me it would not matter if they made it less or more they are trying to debit it but you need to check with your bank. If you close your bank account then it does not exist and PayPal cannot do anything. Use a greendot moneypak card from wal mart or something to load your PayPal account to pay your client back. Open a new bank account and add it back to your PayPal account when it is all clear and good.
