where are you from and you're targeting which country's cpc? US?

I'm from Europe, and targeting WW.

For example this was a keyword I couldn't rank for (though i didn't own an EMD):

Traffic Travis says it is relatively easy,

Without "": About 91 M results
With "": About 308 K results
All in title: About 500 results

Your keyword is more for "authority". Competition is low, which is not good, and monthly searches are not so high to cover your effort.
Also you need to check your competition, and the real one is on first page of google.
So if you see some old magazine, or another kind of authority site, just skip it. You will need to put huge effort for not payable keyword.

Choose another one, start again.

Ok, so I have a few questions :

Is it a long tail keyword (I guess yes if it's a MNS)?
What software did you use to analyze your competitor?

Yes, it's long tail keyword.
I using seoquake, and i check only first 10 sites, because they are my real competitors.
If those sites are aged and already have decent authority from google i just skip them.
For MNS it's just not payable. If you are going to build "authority" than yes you can go for it.

When we talk about keywords how many words do we usually mean ? for example consider a random keyword "acne" ? What would you type in google keyword tool ? "How to remove acne" something like this and then look for the results ??

Finding a Profitable Niche


First of all, i don't use any software, any tool or anything similar. Honestly i think there's no such a thing for good and profitable business.


What i do:

Mostly I came up with a niche that i love. For example i'm interested in kitchen, cooking, healthy food, recipes etc. I will do keyword research for each of those markets, hoping to find related terms that fit my criteria.

If i find something related and domain matching the keyword i will go for it.

You can do the same, write down your interests, your problems, your passions, your fears everything that you remember and where you will simply enjoy working on it.
From that list choose 5-10 potential markets.

Keyword Research

Now it?s time to find profitable keywords and figure out if that market is something that other people are interested in.

What's important:
- High Adwords Competition (If it's high that means people are paying a lot to be seen)
- Decent CPC (Average CPC should be $1.5-$2.5 everything above is great)
- Low Competition


Remember, it?s all about getting on the first page of Google.



Ok, so let's start

For this example i will use word "kitchen"
I'm using google keyword tool for all my projects. I've tried many software but i didn't get desired results, so stick with google keyword tool, my advice.

Click "get ideas" and choose "Ad group (by relevance)", I chose this one

After that's done, i scroll to the end, to get more chance to find decent keyword and EMD.

So as you can see, all keywords are high competitive, which means people are paying for them, trends are also good, so let's choose "kitchen desk"

As you can see, searches are pretty much stable, competition is HIGH, CPC is also very good for MNS.


Let's check our competitors.

I suggest analyzing the Anchor, Title and Text to verify how competitive the keyword phrase really is.
You can use seoquake for that.

By doing an SEO analysis of the top ten, we can determine how easy top ranking will be.
So what we need to do exactly? To find if the keyword has been SEO?d or not, that's very important.

This thread is a goldmine for me. I have just started with adsense and I am in the process of keyword research as I write this. Have few keywords in mind and using my friend's longtail pro for this. Been stuck on this from 3-4 days. I will take a good time to select the keywords.

ATM, what I am confused at this point: should I go for 10 keywords related to my niche and build a site with 50-60 articles or MNS for each keyword? I have a fairly good grip on SEO and can rank low-medium to medium keywords. So that is not an issue.

get a hosted domain , write some quality 40-50 posts , average 500 words , with few 1000 words. Do little bit of social sharing using addmefast.
You will be accepted easily.
