Would this model for a blog work?

I have just started a site with this plan in mind and was wondering if this is plausible or if going this route could lead to disaster. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

First off is to hire content writers to produce the first 100 posts onto the site of 500 words or so, and then optimize this with both Adsense and Amazon Affiliates.

Next, I will go in search of content writers that will work for performance pay bases on adsense and amazon earnings (similar to FullofKnowledge and Expertspages, or even Yahoo! Voices for that matter) I would probably offer around 90% to the writer of overall earnings. My main purpose is to use these writers to drive traffic to my site. I will look for writers who are very active in promoting their work. As my writers are creating the content I will then start sprinkling in Amazon reviews on the sidebar for higher ticket items.

So technically, I would be making 10% off of the writers work, all Adsense and Affiliate earnings from my initial 100 articles(minus the initial cost), and then all Amazon earnings from my personal reviews.

My question is would this work? And what problems would you see arising? Thanks for input!

Well, the model is definitely nice... but the problem is - how do you want to get traffic and the authors? 100 unique articles may not solve your problem nowadays, not to say there is a huge competition in terms of content writing opportunities, so to get even 1 author to write for your site will be a problem...

I think you mean monetize, not optimize.

While it's a good idea in theory, I don't believe you will find any quality writers, perhaps any writers in general, that will write for "only potential" income. No one wants to work with no guarantees that they will be paid.

I recommend just paying for content based on longtail keywords, and once you start earning, just give your writers a fixed monthly salary, or continue to pay them per article.

It might be best to buy only quality articles upfront and keep 100%. That way you don't have to kickback 90% of your revenue forever. If you get a high ranking on those articles and a ton of traffic that's shooting yourself in the foot in the long run.

Having a short term contract to drive traffic itself will help you. As, site start getting popular because of social shares and other referral traffic, it will become authority and earn you big time. you can also flip it for good amount as well.

So a couple more questions:

1. So what most people have implied is that the writers marketing their own articles will not be worth 90% of the revenue? I assumed that if I paid upfront for each article that at that point all the writers could care less at that point if the work gets read or not and all marketing would be left to me. I wonder why this couldn't work? Sites like Bubblews, Yahoo, and FullofKnowledge show that people will just write for only potential earnings based on page views. I am not looking for anything more than around 20 article a day. (Edit: I forgot to mention that I am a writer myself and am a member of a few different groups and have made many writing friends, so I think this may help in swaying a few to join me, Idk if that changes anything as far as the viability of this model though)

2. Assuming I can get a few people to write the articles. Would it be a good idea to put a clause in that states revenue will stop if they do not submit an article each week? Obviously everyone will eventually miss a week so at that point I will make 100% to myself until they come back. This also ensures that I will constantly get more content.

There are a few sites that do this already. But real professional writers will work for pay upfront as they can't be guaranteed that their articles will generate an income. Hubpages works on this model, you don't get paid up front, instead you generate an income with views.

How are you going to do it? Will they have a dashboard where they can see their views and earnings etc? Don't forget, you'll need editors to check for uniqueness, quality, etc.
