Do you think learning a third language(or second in case English is your first) is valuable or why bother as pretty much Everyone speaks English nowadays? Which foreign language is most beneficial to learn? If you could learn any language in the world which language would it be?

childish thread but anyways I will reply. I would like to learn spanish and italian for leisure, german and french for IM, russian and chinese to discover offline business opportunities.

Me it would be Russian and Chinese or Hindi. I study in English at the University, I am a native french speaker, making huge improvements in romanian ( living in the country so..) and know german because I lived there for 3 years ( but I'm not as good as before because of lacking practice partners )

I would love to learn French, but it seems to be very difficult to me especially because of different writing and pronunciation though.

However, it's my main priority for the rest of 2013 and the 2014 to be able to communicate in French!
No goal is big enough!

learn german. germany is the only country which will get out of the euro crisis nearly without damage. in short term germany it is where money is made. germans have a lot money to spend even the "underclass" people. People which are in the underclass in germany have more money to spend than people in the middle class otherwhere (because of germanys great welfare system)

and yes, they speak english, but if you want to convince them and sell them something you have to speak to them in german.

Add me on Skype, we can practice french from time to time if you want :-)

Chinese Mandarin spoken and written with a bias to learning about law and legal issues...

Get a job and pitch your own remuneration...

Russian, all the good stuff online is coming from over there nowadays anyway. 2nd would be Arabic because it intrigues me quite a bit.

Germans are a good bit more tech-savvy I think. And you can get easily cease and desist letters (with the awesome uniqueness, that getting them cost you money here). No problem for you, if you're sitting on some island in the caribbean.

French.. i have a passion for this but can't spare time for it..
