YouTube are watching this site...

Lol, But then again we do have members that have contributed some really good threads that aren't Jr Vip's. So we would all lose out on some valuable information.

Yeah I agree 100% with that but if they watching this section too then all this info could be used against us.Let's say someone find a new way to bost views with a bot or somehow and they see that and fix the problem....then all info posted here would useless because YT knows about it.

Everyone has been a newbie at some stage, bhw has grown to it's present size due in part to the open information given to all.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you,you may have what are termed as noobs and newbie's on the site...but who really knows who any us :cool:of are......

The main reason I said I want the hole site moved to jr vip was because of this morron here that posted on youtube help section.

lol that thread is hilarious...

i recommend reading that to everybody! :D

I agree that this discussion should be somewhat private, even though I am not JR.VIP, i do still believe this is a good direction.

I suggest maybe developing a "trusted" users list, from there we can take the discussion and solutions somewhere private or just a separate forum, etc...

Youtube is constantly evolving, we have to protect our future solutions.

What if a youtube staff makes it into the trusted list?

Those who make real $$$ with blackhat methods are always though who add their own special twist to every method, not just those who copy everything verbatim. Add your special twist to youtube submissions and youtube staff will keep chasing you without success!

I don't know what would happen if youtube staff did make it onto that list, but I don't think youtube staff at this point would do anything besides making an account with zero posts just to view this forum.

Do you think that a youtube staffer has actually posted and offered insight onto what youtube is doing?

I don't know man.. but it keeps me up at night. :bawling:

I just read the post about the entire Jr vip section being copied and used to promote some other members site. This proves even if we do move the youtube section to the jr vip it's still not secure.

I do think we should start a group within this section though, kinda like what Misfire suggested. We could have a section that members would have to be invited in to join in private discussions.

LOL youtube team have money to join jrvip.

Exactly, so you'd have YouTube in, and have a large number of the contributers (to this discussion) out, which would make it a pretty negative move, YT would probably have a good laugh, at our expense, if that move was followed.

This is the internet, no one (or very few people) know each other off line, so there's very little you can do in the way of privacy, and of course there's a reasonable chance YT are here, browsing anonymously, or even posting.

I know if I was a YT tech I'd have been posting here for a long time, asking questions like "Hey, does anyone have a crack for [insert bot here]?", so that I could get myself a nice free copy, have a look at it, and work out how to combat it, and these days I'd be making posts like "Hey, has anyone found a solution to this yet?" in order to solicite whatever plans people were making.

So, if I was a YT tech, I'd have longevity, I'd have posts, and I'd surely kick a few bucks upstairs to keep my source there, so there's a high chance that any "privacy" plan would keep any YT spies, but maybe ditch the member who might have come up with a new solution.

I'll tell you straight, I value "new" guys, I probably do more in life, and make more money, from "new" guys, than "old" guys, because "new" guys are probably more likely to throw something completely different at me, than an "old" guy, whose methods, and thinking, I'm already familiar with

That's not to disrespect older members, or to suggest that all, or even most "new" guys, bring that to the table, but that one brilliant "new" guy, in every few thousand, who brings something entirely different, something revolutionary, to the table, is invaluable.

Think of the history of YT, to see what I mean, think back to the time where mugs like me were hitting F5, and then the "new" guys came along and said "I know, let's build a bot, to automate this?"

Without those new guys we'd be sitting there, pressing F5 still, and YT figured that one even longer ago.

I have to be honest, and my apologies in advance, but some of these comments are the dumbest I have read. Ok so YT sees this section of the website because its free. So you move to a pay site. I think you tube has money to access a pay site. SO you keep it to a confined list. Then what create a program that works by bypassing youtube new fix and keep it from them. HOw will ya do that. You have to use the program and it is a matter of time before they get it, crack it, and implement a fix for that. Yes cat and mouse but yuo win by being so many steps ahead that all these see are the footprints and they do not know how many there are before the catch you. Perfect example is bittorent. No matter how much RIAA tres you will never ever be able to stop P2P. SO they watch Limewire and got Napster but how many other programs are there. They try to fight but in the end a losing battle. All these see are the P2P footprints. They will never catch us.
It is simple (and yes I know it is easier said than done from a newbie) but with that said, you must create a program that youtube will have to add so many changes to there current system to block in the end the money and time is not worth blocking. Any bean counter can do the math. Out of the millions of people uploading to youtube how many use bots. I mean really there focus will be redirected soon enough. The are losing video rights because of the money hungery music industry. Unless the fight back if the pick with there only true base (the normal joe like you and me) and piss us off YT will go away in time. THese video freeze is hurting many many legit video counts and the backlash I am sure is adding up.

I see your point, but the confined list can work, how can youtube get their hands on it if they can't access it? , that is the ideal and I know is nearly impossible to achieve but it can be done.

Keeping the solution to a confined list reduces saturation and now only a small amount of users will be using it, small enough it won't arouse as much suspicion.

And even if they do somehow get it, crack it and fix it, we'll just do it again.

Also about the views, in my opinion I think the legit users aren't even being affected by this at all, all the users complain are either actually boosting their views, or just making a fuss.

Their views are freezing because they actually don't have that many real views at all. Youtube did not freeze views, they are still being counted expect only "real" views are being counted.

I already have proved this many times with my own videos. One video I boosted, froze at 212 and is still frozen.

I have 2 other videos, and sent real views to them. As expected, views counted up without freezing, and now they sit at 400 and 500 respectively.

I do page refreshes on them ,they add the views. I sent a bot on them, no hits are registered.

I do page refreshes on my "cheated" video, view counter does not move.

If real views is not > published facing counter, then the counter will not update until that condition is true.

So overall, I believe legit users are not being punished at all since there is real people viewing the videos and they are not gaming the system.

Just kidding :)

Excellent post, BTW.

So overall, I believe legit users are not being punished at all since there is real people viewing the videos and they are not gaming the system.

But if they think they are being effected?

It doesn't matter what is happening, only what they think is happening.

Look at that blog, and those forums, I've checked some of those users out, some are certainly not using bots, some are crazy little channels, some of them with barely any views, but "frozen" at 200(ish) and in a mad panic, and unable to move on, because someones sent some fake traffic their way, and they won't get credited with views until they get hundreds more, to catch up with the fake views someone here (or elsewhere) sent them, as part of the "let's freeze YouTube" gimmick.

It doesn't matter if they've been effected, or not, it just matters that they think they have, so they stink up the blog, and they stink up the help forums, and everyone reading thinks "yeah, this new system sucks".

It's like this, if I'm President of America, and introduce a peice of new tax legislation, that makes everyone $10 a week better off, if the whole of the nation thinks it makes them worse off, then it doesn't matter that I'm giving away an extra $10 a week to everyone, they're all going to hate me, and I'm probably going to change my system again, and/or at least think twice before changing it again, because I'll be wary of any backlash.

Go read that blog page of theirs, if you were YouTube, is that the blog page you'd want, where 75% of the comments say "you suck" and talk about YT being owned by other sites?

Is that what you'd want the public, and the press to read?

YouTube are NOT going to switch things back, but this has been a very uncomfortable 3 weeks for them, they've looked bad, and are continuing to look bad, they haven't enjoyed it at all.

That's was another reason I wasn't as uptight as some about that autumn guy (or w/e his name was) posting about this place, as it was a psychological blow, it was putting into the minds of more and more regular members that this was a bigger deal to them than it really was, and causing more of them to complain, and thus making it more uncomfortable for YT, and less likely they'd fiddle again, in a way that's detrimental to us, in the near future.

Of course the "let's make this section private" threads, and explanations like this, have kind of killed that advantage we were getting, from some one elses paranoia, as they are now seeing the "truth", and seeing members here as "afraid" and therefore not the big bad boogeymen they thought we were.

Something tells me you're a Youtube staff and I can prove it :D

Damn! Was it my "I work for YouTube" badge that gave me away?

j/k

But, yeah, seriously, if a YT staff member is here, he'll either not post in threads like this, or join in the call to make things private, to cut down on the contributers, and to help them stay ahead of the game, because they'd make damn sure they were part of the new smaller group.

People shouldn't let what's happening elsewhere effect them, they need to keep their eye on the ball, and focus on themselves, and not be distracted by outside influences, as that's what leads to fumbles.

jantonio6 put it quite well, when they said that we'll always be watched, it's part of the game, all you got to do is stay focused, and make sure you're at least one step ahead of them, so all they can watch is your backside dissapearing into the sunset.

It is cat and mouse, always has been, it's the nature of the thing.

I think some of you is missing the point. YT can never catch up because as great as the post written here you think are, the person who wrote it never spills all the beans and it is open for interpretation just like religious scriptures. The people who succeed on YT knows how to take and idea and twist it. Surely, YT don't have enough spies to combat that nor does any other site. Programmers can only look at the core of the message but they cannot stop the process.

people here might talk about their projects or a new program they are developing to crack YT but they wouldn't give out everything thats bad for their business and YT wouldn't mind to pay the money to go join some sort of a VIP section, so its just cool to go on with the game;)

just make it so u need a certain amount of posts or thanks to see youtube section.

I think we should move sections like this to Jr. Vip. I for one wouldn't care because I believe these thing should only be a privledge. You gotta work for it. Otherwise people take advantage....and then we have to spend all our time finding a new way because it got saturated.
