[Suggestion] Notifications by "@username".

So, I saw this suggested in another thread that I will not be linking because what's discussed in it does not need to be discussed here. However, I see some threads that are asking for certain services or certain members that they aren't aware of their name, etc. An @SnakePliskin would bring up a notification, say in a PM or, on an part of BHW somewhere notifying me that a user mentioned my forum name within a thread.

This would be a very convenient feature, though it might take a lot of work. I have experience with vbulletin but not with the amount of users that BHW has. Also, not implementing this particular feature. Though, I have seen other forums with it. The place with the '@notifications' could be a new tab on your profile, could actually be in the place that the reputation sent/received section that was in our settings panel, it could be inside of the actual notifications tab at the top when your logged in and could be under the "inbox" saying "mentions" or another term. These are just a few ideas.

I know this isn't SocialHatWorld, but it would be a convenience to have it instead of having to search for said users profile and then linking it in a thread.

Sometimes you will encounter members who have their inbox full and don't notice until they see a thread posted about it or they try to send a message.

It seems like many have been using the 'ex' system to send notifications, lolololol. Now that it's no more and necessitates having another similar system on board. Guys, better get used to using skype if you all are so dear friends and need to send frequent notifications to each others.

Who said anything about being 'dear friends' or frequently needing to speak to a single member. It's about all members. Not all members use skype. Not all members have their contact details open. I'm sure this idea would help out some of the BST sellers too.

Indeed it is but sometimes sellers inboxs get full without them noticing. Some get so much to where they have 10 new PM's a day. I've seen them talk about it in the IRC. This could be in the 'ex systems' section of the settings panel.

I guess some very popular members would get 1001+ spammmm notifications every minute also... Wouldn't that kill another 'useful' system as soon as it is born? What would be the solution to this phenomenon which is also a possibility?

I don't think either you or Wiz or BigBuddy would be too happy if you/they get 10k notifications every day through this popup system...

Well, it sounds like we at BHW are being expected to tolerate what amounts to people running out of gas on the freeway when they did not plan accordingly nor calculate.

Would a larger inbox for jr vip+ or those who open a BST solve this issue?

Before any ideas are thought of, unless, they have a mod approval option, the idea has room for abuse. Even now with the PM box spamming, itraders that are fake, and "thanks whoring". I don't think anyone would appreciate any type of spam directed towards their account. The idea would need a little tweaking, but still a good idea and can be implemented.

Yeah, then we can add a webcam section and you can scroll through and find the hottest BHW members to sex cam with! :rockon:

That would probably solve that particular issue, yes. That isn't the only reason I suggested it though. I've seen about 5 threads opened of people looking for MeatHead1234 but they didn't know his name/wanted someone who could be a middle man between them and a website buyer. A member could have came inand said "You'd be looking for @Meathead1234". He'd be notified in some way and respond at his earliest convenience. Again, these are just ideas.
