My Journey For Authority Site

So...Welcome to another Journey thread. Quick details, short first post.

I am mainly into freelance programming and web design, building a website always seemed like to much work. The only one ive ever built was a image site, monetized through adsense, and making about $800 a month before being stolen by my partner. Im currently working on a few programs and find myself somewhat slacking, so instead of wasting time doing something stupid, ill devote my time to creating an authority site.

Basically, I dont have time to create a white hat authority site, so im going to combine the best of all worlds and create a gray hat authority site, with some autocontent, some custom, good plugins, good keyword research, etc. Mixture of backlinks, you get the idea.

I dont plan to jump off tonight. Im going to read(skim) through these entire threads and create a baseline guide for what i'm going to do. I just decided to post this journey before I decided to back out. Once I post this, I feel like no following through with it makes me a nooby piece of crap.

So, Day 1 (and maybe 2) is going to be deciding my keyword and skimming through these great sources of information.

Going to add more late but for now..yeah.

I don't know about that, I am new to this whole site building seo game so I am kinda just starting from the bottom and seeing where it takes me.

You should take a minute to re-think your strategy, Google changed thinks a little, create a improveed strategy to work along with the Hummingbird Alghoritm

I think it just depends on what you do. If you worry to much about every google zoo update you never get anything done, at least from what ive read

Update 1

I have found my niche. And keyword. I was not able to get an emd but i think its a good one. My main keyword has 18k exact searches. The cpc is $2.46. The comp has 3 websites in top 10 with no pr and only 5 websites have my keyword in title. Have purchased and am setting up wordpress now.

My Plan


My plan is to essentially create a custom spam site. Im going to use a ratio of about 20-1 for scraped content to custom content.

I want the site to have a lot of content posts, not just from today. The spam-a-thon method? Automated wordpress plugins!

Here's a how-to guide:

1. Install the following wordpress plugins (all free and in the public domain):

- WP RSS Multi Importer

- Simple Auto Featured Image
http://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-auto-featured-image/

- Automatic Youtube Video Posts
http://wordpress.org/plugins/automatic-youtube-video-posts/

2. Find a bunch of niche-relevant RSS feeds. I used this search engine:
http://ctrlq.org/rss/

Copy the feeds into the RSS Multi Importer plugin. Make sure it's set up with a relevant category and set to send RSS to Posts.

Enable the Simple Auto Featured Image plugin and upload a bunch of scraped images in the Media section of Wordpress (you can google and download, or use scrapebox for more automated fun).

Hit "CLICK TO FETCH FEEDS NOW" in RSS Multi Importer (under the Feeds to Post tab) and hey presto, my site is filled with content dating from 2009 to today. (I used 11 RSS feeds and got 191 posts).

Now for some diversity... activate the Automatic YouTube Video Posts plugin, enter in some channel IDs or playlist IDs and hit "IMPORT ALL VIDEOS". Now we've got a bunch of posts with relevant images, text and video. Time spent: 30 minutes.

3. For even more auto-generated fresh content, I installed Tweet Blender

(http://wordpress.org/plugins/tweet-blender/), authorised it with a new Twitter account (created for this website) and added the widget to the footer. Now, niche-relevant tweets scroll on the site every 30 seconds. Great!

4. For even more fresh generated content, I added another free plugin that generates sports scores (Yep, the niche is sports-based). This displays on the homepage and site pages and updates every hour.

5. Finally, I installed WP Social Poster (shared on here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/member-downloads/571299-get-wordpress-social-poster-plugin.html) and synced my site with Twitter, Stumbleupon, Facebook, Google +, Pinterest and Tumblr. This will get automated backlinks and social signals for my site every time an autopost fires itself off. Easy peasy.

thanks. once i get one site working, i might make another one. my main focus is programming, but it seems that theres money in creating solid ranking autohrity sites also
