How much would you guys charge a client for 5 medium competition keywords?

Thanks. This person is in such a weird niche, I'm going to need to research around how much they make from a sale. Also, don't plumbers usually make a lot of money?

You brought up an interesting question. The average plumber makes about $34-$48K

After taxes, that comes out to be $2K-$3K a month. How much of that do you think the guy's willing to spend on marketing (considering he has other business bills to pay as well).

Just some food for thought. Also check AdWords cost for those specific keywords. Google has done a ton of research on what each click costs. Use that to your advantage.

If you want to go all out geek on your client you can use this formula:

1. Find the cost of AdWords click for your 5 keywords

2. The projected traffic/impression for those 5 keywords

3. What position you think they you can get them and multiply the placement (there is data where it shows you the percentage of people who click by SERP position) and multiple that by the traffic number and multiple it by cost per click.

4. Find out the sale price

5. Find out the conversion rate (typically 1-3%)

6. Multiple 4 x 5

7. Add 5 and 6.

And there you have it! I should probably use this method myself :)

People dont like your thread is because it doesnt provide sufficient information for reader to advise.

Wouldnt say who is right or wrong, just that with this thin info nobody could actually help but just give you a random number.

zee007, you've hurt the OP. You should have directed him to a marketing text book or the wikipedia on price if you wanted to be a pal.

and that data/formula is totally wrong. A guy making $2,000 a month can invest at least double that a month. It's a thing called "savings" and the investment can result in a thing called "return on investment."

This is why we do our own homework.

zee...you're suggesting something without having tried/used/perfected it first? Are you kidding? Why are you jr vip?

If you're so smart, why are you wasting time responding to "dumb" posts?

If you're confident that you can deliver, then charge $500 per month and throw in site analysis and on-page help as well. Not just for him, but for yourself as well. Making sure his site is well optimized will leave you less stressful in the long run.

Oh wow, I thought you'd understand what I was trying to say. No wonder you're having problems.

But really, if you need us to run your business for you, let us know.

What exactly did I misunderstand about what you said? You said "and yes, asking a business question like that is 100% uncouth and pathetic. Do your homework."

Define "Do your homework." How do you propose I found out market prices of SEO services if not to ask other SEO consultants (aside from Google research which I've already done)? And how does asking other people questions translate to "run my business?" You are one dumb individual.
