The Reputation system has been removed

As of 10/10/13 we've removed the Reputation rating system from the forums.

It's been a rather long road to reach this decision but ultimately we feel "Rep" doesn't serve much purpose for members/staff or improve our user's experience on the site. At one point it was considered a somewhat useful metric, but more recently it's been a hot button for abuse and arguments among members - and it's time to move on.

We encourage you to continue to use the "Thanks" feature to acknowledge great content and helpful posts around the forum and "iTrader" to rate business transactions (that originated on BHW) between you and other members. We're confident this change will improve the overall experience for ALL members on Blackhatworld and we're looking forward to the future rep-free.

Thank God. This needed to be done and I am glad that it has been. Too many arguments, too many complaints, and too much to manage. I welcome this new change with open arms and an open mind.

After around 2 years I got some reps... that's gone too now.

Some abused the neg rep way too much..which led to this. Thanks /itrader, everything may go the same route if those members don't act sincerely.

I disagree I personally think it's useful, it can't be helped that some people will whinge whenever they have been negative repped. However I fully understand the decision from a moderation point of view.

I confess I have mixed feelings about seeing it go.... IMO those who abused it should be banned, but I respect the board's decision not to.

Since we're on the subject:
I'd like to ask mods to encourage the BST sellers to use iTrader more...I bought a few thousand bucks in services here since I joined, and only one seller gave me iTrader score. Rep was a reference into how trustworthy someone was, I always looked at it before buying stuff....now we don't have that anymore and thanks are given our more freely. Someone who has done thousands of $ in transactions without a problem should be more reputable than someone who has never done any business.

Also there's the question of iTrader replacing rep, now will that be abused instead by the same members? If someone hadn't captured screenshots we'd never know about it....

I think negative rep was useful for flagging potential scammers and people to be weary of, but I see why this had to go. Been seeing a lot of bad advice and arguments coming from very high repped individuals lately.
