Is Long Tail Pro worth it?

Long Tail Pro + Platinum has 97$ + 17$/mo price. Do you think Long Tail Pro + Platium is a good keyword research tool

I think it has only 1 function that I need: Calculate Keyword Competitiveness. Other functions can be found in other cheap tool.

If you dont recommend LTP + Platinum, so please give me some cheap tools that have function: Calculate Keyword Competitiveness like LTP.

In my opinion long tail pro is a good tool! But the 17$ per month is not worth it! I am speaking from
an good SEO understanding point. If you are good doing competitor research then you don't need KC, besides
that, even when you really don't know about SEO then again only the KC will not tell you the whole picture.

You still need to do proper research on your competitors. I use KC but only for doing thinks a little easier for me because
I go through thousand of keywords everyday so it makes thinks a little easier to narrow it down.

I have bought LTP at a discount and i find it really handy altough i dont have platinum...Personaly i wouldnt pay subscription for that extra KC...

Someone said that KC point <= 35 is an easy keyword, and I'm not good doing competitor research so I have to know KC point to determine if keyword is easy or not. But 97$ + 17$/mo is damn high price, I have to do another way.

To answer your question, yes all Keyword software providers have been affected by this change. You will be able to tell that all keyword software that has made the updates for google planner are running VERY slow when scrapping keyword data from the planner. The difference is that google planner's infrastructure is much more complex now and keyword software's are not able to scrape data in the way that they used to.

KC value is useful for me when browsing a huge list of keywords. This way you can click on calculate button for each kw and have a preview of the competitiveness of lots of kws at the same time.

Of course after that you have to analyze each keyword, but it saves lots of time when browsing long lists

Alternatives to show kw competivity are UNF (ultimate niche finder) , Keyword Winner, keyword scout and traffic travis. I don't know others but if you know, please let us know here...

LTP is slow (no proxy and multithreading support). built in rank checker is slow as hell, isnt accurate, and does not keep a database of past dates to show line chart of past history of ranking.

provides basically same info you can get exporting google keyword planner into ms excel. with a Moz account, you can get competitive info with LTP for a keyword and export that to ms excel.

LTP saves you time, thats all.

if you know how to program against google and moz api, theres really not much to it and can probably come up with a better app.

UNF doesnt even work now due to elimination of google keyword tool. most legacy kw tools will be broken.

UNF works fine for me and KW Planner. It's updated. Interested in a second oppionion of kw competiveness of LTP... how is that ? Accurate ?

good to hear unf fixed.

for a while there it was dead and i gave up on it because it didnt work and developer took a long time to fix it.

kw competitiveness is moz data for the top 10 serp positions. accuracy is a myth when you use third party data that is not from the source (google).

each tool gets its competitive data from different sources and/or attempts to use its own proprietary data it collects. you are never going to know how accurate they are. consider that they couldnt possibly scrape the web like google does. use them as a guideline but dont put too much faith in them. you may see a competitor with a gazillion backlinks with third party source, but google doesnt give a shit about them because they are crap bls, for example.

Manually checking the first page of Google for your keyword is the ONLY way to analyze competitiveness of a keyword. No tool can do this.
