Competitors saturating my serp, what to do?

I realized a few days ago that someone has been creating shitty backlinks to my website the past month and that the total amount of backlinks have doubled. I have been affected by this as my keywords are now on page 10+ instead of being on the first page. The question is, how do I fix this issue now?

Find the links and disavow them. Buy new high PR ones and you will be dominating again.

I think somehow your title is misleading or not correct description of what's happening.

Anyways, I understand what you're saying, there's a current update a couple of days ago and I think you are hit. Wait maybe a week if your current position remains.

If your site ranking still tank by then, you can do one or combination of these

1. try to remove those offending links,
2. build some "quality" backlinks (please take note the word inside quotes)
3. If your site is earning that much, its really not worth it trying to recover from penalty. I suggest build a new one and try to rank those. It's much faster than trying to recover a penalizd site.

Yup, the title is a little misleading. "Saturing the SERPs" (Search Engine Results Pages) would mean that they are ranking several different URLs (different money sites or properties) for the same keyword.

What they are doing is called "Negative SEO" and there is nothing you can do to prevent this.

What you can do to fix this is:
- disavow the links using Google Webmasters Tools (more about this)
- build quality backlinks yourself and keep building them for a few weeks - don't stop after a day or two!

You will see in a week or two if this will help.

It's incredible how far Google will mess up the principles of the WWW. Now you got link disavow, where the recipient of the links is responsible for something they're not responsible for....

The WWW's linking structure is all messed up because of Google's interference......I wonder if there's a single honest editorial link out there anymore. Even journalists are negotiating links BEFORE they write stories.....
