How much to charge in subcontracting?

Hi,

for the first time, I have been contacted to do subcontracting.
Me > Agency > Customer

I know the agency will bill 400-450?/day for 3 months, they told me because they are on a hurry.
How much would you charge? I'm not familiar with subcontract and need advice please

I would give them 50% to 25% (you 50% to 75%) margin depending how urgent and important and unique the work involved. You have the opportunity to make most of the money.

You cannot be sure if they are actually charging 400-450?/day or if they just said that to you to give a price range which they don't want to cross. Anyway, if you are happy with the rate I would go with 350?/day which should still give them a decent margin and keep them happy. If they are in real need you should get what you ask as long its not going to cost them. It all depends what level you are happy to work for.

Expertise is always pricy.
So 50% to 75% seems to be honest and standard.

That's still peanuts, €50 per hour, if you are programming specialist and work as a consult for multinational corporations. You can easily get up to €100-150 per hour, I know it by my own experience.

Sure, consulting is always more expensive than inhouse jobs.
