WEPAY vs PAYPAL

Does anyone have any experience in dealing with wepay(US)? Do they hold funds and not release them like Paypal has been classically known for? Also, since Paypal seems to be getting its act together within the past year has anyone had smooth sailing with their account or their limited actually lifted without any issues?

Didn't know to much about Wepay, but I use Paypal for about 4 years. Never been limited or had any issues with them. I followed their rules and everything was ok.

paypal is the most used payment gateway. If you really want to sell big, make a business account and read carefully their rules. Have a TOS on your website, a refund policy, etc. There are plenty of info on the net on how to protect and stay under the radar.

I had wepay for about a year for one of my stores. It's really nice. I had it for their virtual terminal and put the customer's credit card number in it. I didn't use it like paypal. You can use wepay two ways. One is for accepting money like you would with paypal, and one is for merchants who want to use it as a credit card processor with a terminal, but without incurring terminal fees (like authorize.net).

Paypal all the way. Never had any problems and if you do have questions they're very quick to respond.

I registered on WePay - really like that interface and usability, very easy. But fu*k, they are only for US! Are there any similar services? Paypal is not the option. Skrill sucks, they are not responding me for 48 hours now.

If you run a legitimate business then PayPal is just fine. It's usually people doing shady shit that get their accounts limited or closed. Also, if you do big volume with them you'll find their customer support gets nicer, they pick up my calls usually in 30 seconds or less and are quick to work with me to resolve any issues I have. Our company has been using them for years, and I've also got a personal account that I've had for years.

Adding just a bit to what the_demon said - they Paypal is for sure one of the best payment gateway these days. But WePay is so great for US based. All depends on your market, we're using with success 2co and I may say that worth their commissions. Still, if you don't have a proper deal and refund policy all the payment gateway will let you down

Paypal is definitely the best way to go for payments. Although the usually limit accounts, it hasn't happen to me yet so that's definitely a plus.

All I can say is stay away from WePay.

They held my funds for 30 days and closed my account out the blue after I had been using them for about 5 months without any problems. They said my business was "risky" and after reviewing their TOS it looks like online businesses are "prohibited". I guess they only cater to brick-and-mortar businesses. After the 30 days, they said my request to reopen my account so I could withdraw the unfrozen funds was "denied".

Wish I had seen all the negative reviews from Trust Pilot, Rip Off Report, and the Better Business Bureau first before dealing with them. They know their business is bad too because they have people on Trust Pilot stating WePay told them to go there and write a positive review. I was actually happy to go back to Paypal

If people would just use PayPal the way it was meant to be used then you would never hear of any problems from its users. I've been using them for years and have never had an issue. You can't say PayPal is a bad alternative to accepting payments just because you read threads like this:

"I have a fake PayPal account with a fake name that has $500 in it and they limited my account. Why do they limit accounts for no reason?!"

I see these all the time and I think to myself, "Are you stupid"? PayPal simply wants to protect themselves and if you run a legitimate business and you're not trying to scam people then PayPal is definitely without a doubt the way to go.

Have been using paypal from 5 years and I never had an issue with them leaving behind some country level changes. Never heard of Wepay.

In the first place you shouldn't compare wepay and PayPal because they are not mate. If you want to leave truck load of money on the table when doing business online then stay away from PayPal.
