Including keyword in domain name.. Good or bad?

One of my websites is focused on selling a wide variety of niche ebooks... Lately, A couple of my products have been doing so great. I guess that is because the keywords used have low competition yet v high traffic.

I have decided to build 20 different domains with the keywords included in domain name, and have these domains filled with unique content and an excellent design with a sales page on each domain (instead of redirecting to the main sales page on my main website)

1) I was wondering is it harmful to have a long domain name like

smartenginetuningtips dot com (21 characters)

And in that case, I would be targetting the keyword "smart engine tuning tips"

2) One of the other domains I wanted to be something like "Self motivation guide" unfortunately selfmotivationguide dot com is not available..

can i go for self-motivation-guide dot com?? or will it have less power ?

3) In question 2, if i use the plural of that keyword, will that deliver me good results? In that case it will be selfmotivationguides dot com (which is available)


Sure most of you guys here are well experienced in this field

I just wanted to be sure before buying 20 domains, since I am very tight on budget and can't risk 200 bucks to be wasted (Yeah, I am poor and not rich like you guys )

Keywords in the domain either with or without hyphens will always help if all your are interested in is getting to the top of the search engines, however a lot is to be said in terms of if you have a USP and good linkbait. Goo*gle is a perfect example, good usp and memorable name - it probably won't have got as far if it was called search-for-the-most-relevant-results-for-you dot com

That said domain names aren't going to get you to the top of search on their own unless super niche markets.

Buy a couple of domains now, check out the tips in the link building section on this forum - give them a few tries and you'll see results in no time. Rinse and repeat and get your monies worth by developing a working strategy before spanking your whole $200!

Sorry should also have said that IMO plurals will always work for both the plural and single of that keyword so go for it if it makes sense when saying the words out load.

Wow.. thank, I really appreciate your advice. Is there any limitation to how long I can have my domains?

I mean, will it make sense to use a 30 character domain name to focus on one specific long tail keyword?

As you can see, I am not looking for people to visit me daily. I am just focusing on Organic traffic from Search engines.
