I hope this isn't too late for everyone to use this. I wanted to post this a month ago but just didn't get around to it.

Last year my friend made a lot of money by buying high demand Halloween costumes and then selling them on ebay. Here's how he did it.


1. Go to ebay and do a search for costumes and click the appropriate category Costumes. Now sort by "items sold" and "buy it now". Now sort by items ended soonest and scan through and find some that have sold the most over the past few days.

2. Now go to aliexpress.com and look up the ones you just found on ebay. When looking for a supplier to buy from you want to not only look for the lowest price but also for the most feedback and highest rated. Doesn't need to have the most feedback but I like to look for one with at least 100 in the past year.

3. Now just purchase them and list them on ebay. Make sure the shipping you choose will get it delivered with time for you to list and sell them. My guess is you'll need to pick a shipping method that will get it to you in no more than 2 weeks.



Again I'm sorry I didn't get this out sooner but I hope this can help someone make some money this Halloween.

You might also be able to find some suppliers on there that can dropship a single item to your ebay customers but that might be dangerous if you don't get one that can deliver a single item to them on time. Plus you'll need to check your profit margins.

Sold on ebay in the last week between $25 and $33
On Aliexpress for about $10.58 from "ABU Children's Clothing"

Thanks for sharing - I use methods like this to make me a little bit of extra cash every now and then. I think the delivery time might cause the problems as this only gives a short window to sell the costumes - however if people like the idea of doing this sort of thing it's never too early to start planning for Xmas - some real money to be had there with wholesale items.
 
That's true. If ppl plan it right for Xmas and pick the right kind of items they can make a killing using Aliexpress and Alibaba.
 
Haha wow, past week I've been thinking "I should do something to profit off of Halloween." Not sure, almost too late now, though it'd be useful to get a system set in place for next Halloween, no big deal.
 
Would it be possible to just suss out which ones are selling the best, list them on eBay and if you make a sale then get the website to send it to that address. Dropshipping and you wouldn't be out of pocket if it didn't sell.

Yeah I wish I would have posted this earlier for people. There are still other ways to profit this Halloween if you get creative.

I talked about this in my post. You can but you are then dependent upon them shipping it on time and it getting there without any hassles. Its a good idea but a gamble.
 
Find a US warehouse that dropships. There a are a few and you still have about 2 weeks of safe profiting left.
 
I checked Google Insights and people start looking for Halloween costumes as far as early July!

The curve in the graph, from 2007 to 2012, starts in July, slowly goes up and NEVER drops down until of course on and past Halloween itself.

Whoever put this Ebay method starting from early July must have made lots of money by now.

There is still 4 weeks until October 31st. The cash is probably still there to make.

Perhaps with Amazon if most of the clients have Prime to get their costumes in two days? :cool:
 
There's definitely a lot of money to be made around Halloween. We used to make around $15,000 for the season.

Just want to chime in about the idea of dropshipping.

1. Vet your suppliers
2. There's good money to be made if you have a good supplier.
3. Vet your suppliers

I think I'll write one of those ridiculously long threads about this someday in the future, but to make a long story short, I got my start in IM doing websites with a guy who was dropshipping stuff.

The business ultimately went under when the company lost the ability to accept credit card payments from too many chargebacks. Customers would order stuff, we would put the order in with the suppliers, and some of our suppliers either didn't send the stuff out within the promised timeframe or sent partial orders and pissed off our customers.

The owner of the company went from pulling in $600,000 a month to bankruptcy within a couple months, just because of a few bad suppliers.
 
Damn that's horrible... Its that's definitely good advice to check out your suppliers as best you can.

Excellent method! It's better to sell them earlier though as you mentioned because if the buyer receives the costume right before Halloween they can wear it and return it (or claim snad). It can be used for Thanksgiving too! Think of how many soccer moms want to dress their children up as turkeys or pilgrims:haha:
 
Its the dropshipping that creates the problem

If there was a way around that
 
Good method. If you have a Chinese friend or if you can find a reliable Chinese dropshipper, you can bank hard.
 
A better source for goods is go directly to the main source, which is the sellers on Taobao.com. This you would need someone with access to the site and so on, but it will most likely yield larger margins.
 
I think this method can be applied to many other occasions than just the Halloween. Thanks
