Ranking 1st in google with Google plus page

Has anyone ranked first page purely on their google plus page?
i assume you can build links to your google plus page just like any other Web 2.0?
iv seen quite a few terms rank top with a google plus page, in particular local trades like builders, roofers, hairdressers etc

Interested on how it's achieved

Personally haven't even seen this much... Did you check the backlinks of the G+ pages that ranked?

i just think that most google + pages can't rank first page, except you + the page, or you are a friend of the profile ranking.

Type in google.co.uk "plumbers London" and see who ranks 1st
no back links. Just a google plus page

I saw this to in one of my niches but only for about 2 weeks and than it merged with the other local business listings

There are some changes as who been using 301 went down, but not all

done it with dif sites:
G+ Page Optimized connect to Youtube channel Optimized
set up Google Authorship
optimized video uploaded youtube channel
optimized blog (connected to authorship) post optimized video on blog
Post blog/video on G+
that's the basic gist anyway

seems like linking all your local business information too google plus, your website (must be a local business), you tube video channel (of your business video if you have one) will increase your likelyhood of being found in the search (keyword term + area ) will work
i will try this on some of my local business websites, and let others know how it works... if id does, this will make my UNCLE BUCK - Tips posts... and il explain how its done step by step

Don't use your google plus page. Use Linkedin

If you are in the consulting game hitting your linkedin profile with links and ranking it is a gold mine. Super easy to do too.

@ookie, no im working on ranking a local business, thats why i was interested in this method, but yes no reason why i cant create a linkden profile for the business owner, and link that to google plus also

and like you say, try pushing links to the linkden profile page also.. will be interesting to see how this all works, and put it to the test.. i assume you can push any crappy links to a linkden page profile? the more the merrier?

Yes I have seen a lots of G+ Pages in SERP. Normally if you have a long tail keywords and if you can throw some link ( some would even rank without links) ..you can rank them pretty easily...

Are you trying to rank in the local snippet? Or just in organic search?
If in the local section for searches such as "kw + location", then yes it is quite simple. From what I have seen, they rank depending on the local relevant strength of the website that the g+ page is linked to.
For my niche, we rank 3rd/4th in the local snippet for "Main KW + City", and the two above me are from a really high authority brand site. There is no possible reason for those pages to rank above me apart from the strength of the site behind them. The competitor I share 3rd/4th with has loads of g+ activity and youtube videos etc. I just have good backlinks.
1st position has 0 reviews. 2nd has 3 reviews (same as my site). And I have slowly moved up the rankings simply by adding backlinks from local relevant sites, and backlinks from articles with relevant anchor text (kw/semantic relevant word + Location/Close by Locations) to the main site.
