Ok, this is too easy. I'm using the generic WordPress 2011 theme plus the Quick AdSense plugin. 728x90 ad box up top, keyword as H1 tag, relevant image below that (centered), one sentence containing the keyword and link out to an authority site, H2 tag (secondary keyword) below that, relevant youtube video, H3 tag (secondary keyword) below that, 300x250 ad block at the bottom (plugin has easy top and bottom settings, just copy/paste your ad block's code). That's it. See attached images for example and proof. This crappy silo site is getting me a higher CTR and RPM than my more legitimate sites. Highly considering scaling this model...

Well, be careful. Change it immedietly as we are coming the end of the month, adsense manual team are checking high ctr websites. For me, yeah I also got about %4 ctr but yours is high dude. At least you must add some content (sentences), because thats a rule. There must be some added value. Add some content, your page looks like made for adsense only. Other than that, congrats.

Thanks for the share but I get sleepless when my CTR hits 10%. I usually stay between 14-18%

I have a question that what is the traffic figure for your website ?

Traffic is in the mid-hundreds per month now but climbing as my rankings increase. At first I thought the high CTR was a fluke, but it's stayed high.

I didn't know they did that at the end of the month. Interesting. With that said, it is made for AdSense! I haven't put a dollar into this site and only a few hours of my time with my automated link building software. There's really no way for me to lose on this situation. And if I add content it will surely decrease my CTR, although I could try adding it at the very bottom of the page....may have to test that.

Well that is prone to accidental click. IF your click doesnt convert to advertiser, you MIGHT get banned.

Cool man. Do you use an SEO Plugin or you just know it already. Your SEO sounds like SEOPressor suggestions (minus content).

googlw made a lot of changes now. And all are getting little bit high ctr. But still 8% is only acceptable if you site is really good.

That ad design update made a 45% increase on my daily adsense revenue ($xxx). How about yours ?

great test, thanks for sharing. repped.

Adsense ctr is greatly affected by these: either you lack page info/content and people will be more inclined to click ads, or you give what people search for (that good info they're looking for) and they are less inclined to click on ads, thus resulting in smaller ctr.

I don't keep up with adsense honestly, I just noticed that box on the right said something about me having the wrong format. But my earnings did jump a bit so I ignored it : )

For a thin site like this I use the Simple Meta Tags plugin to add my tags, and just type the H tags in manually.

In my case, I ignore the adsense advice that pops in my mail from time to time to enable image ads on one of my sites, I tested it and for that particular site I earn more with text ads only. So its not always the case to follow general rules.

Same here. I ran custom channels and was surprised that text ads went through the roof! I suspect people are developing banner blindness, either that, or text ads are more laser targeted.
