Posting new content but not getting more traffic.

Hello there.

I have a technology blog that has been around for a couple of years and has a lot of content; I am adding new posts when I can and updating static pages; but I am still not getting any more traffic. I generally get 300 - 400 visitors per day and I would really like even more traffic. Is there a way to get my blog URL out there without buying traffic? I do not want to do that as I have Adsense and they do not like bought traffic. I am using Wordpress on a self hosted site with a domain.

As i said on another post, make sure your site is not hosted with anything porn related. You'll loose all of your rankings.

So one Server/VPS for porn.
One for blackhat stuff.
One for anything else

Do a good keyword research and write content which is optimized for these keywords.
Afterwards create strong authority backlinks to this content and rank it.
Traffic will start kicking in.

The best way to get some traffic + good backlinks are guest posts and forum posts imo!

When you write an article first do a keyword research for it (start with one - two words and then broaden your search untill you get your right keywords with small competitions).

After you do that use the keywords you just got into:
- url (link)
- title
- H1
- H2
- strong
- link
- image alt/title
- content

After you publish the article just do some high authority backlinks and you're done.

P.S.: Old seo techniques still work!!!!!

I am using shared hosting with Hostgator. I have heard that they are hosting some adult sites and I am wondering if this could be the cause.

You can write a ton of content and get no new visitors if your content is not ranking or is not targeted towards terms people are actually searching. With a tech blog you will probably find some content drops of in relevancy while your newer content might only just make up for this fact.

Promote your content socially on Facebook, Twitter, Google plus and LinkedIn. Also interlink your old content with newer posts.

You need to make sure you are syndicating your new post through SM and pinging them as well. I'm sure you've added it in G-Webmaster Tool, Bing & Alexa as well. Submitting your RSS helps for faster indexing as well, and of'course helps build natural links to your site.

Yeah dude!! Good call, they are hosting adult sites now. HostGator was sold recently but I just don't know if they just started excepting adult sites after the sell or before.
