Viral Membership Site?

I'm sure this has been done - and I could write it myself - but I don't have the time or inclination so if anyone knows of a script....

What I'm looking for is a 3 level membership site:

Level 1 is free - simply a registration gets you in (double opt-in)
Level 2 - you can either buy an annual registration OR if you get 5 other people to sign up in the free area you get level 2 automatically
Level 3 - you can subscribe monthly OR you can subscribe annually (at a lower/discount rate)

At each level there would be a number of pages available to you, including levels lower than your own.

I'd also like level 2/3 people to be able to earn commissions if anyone they get to sign up buys a membership. So, if you join at level 1 and recommend 5 friends you become level 2. Once you are at level 2 if anyone 'beneath' you buys into level 2 or level 3 you get credited with a percentage of that person's subscription.

I could take PayPal or, preferably, redirect to my own merchant account for payments.

Any suggestions?

I presume you mean Mike Filsaime's script? It's a pain to install (apparently) and there is a presumption that it calls home. He's due to release a version 2 this month and I'll have a look at the 'new' version but I'm not convinced that it's all that good.

I've grabbed the Viral Mini Site stuff to see if I can alter any part of that. Thanks for your thought though.

Sorry, I double checked the script and it isnt the one with the viral twist. I bought a script what is doing what you are explaining on pluskit.biz the script is called Easy Cash Viral Script. I am not sure if you will get somewhere for free.

Trouble is that a) the Community Builder site gives me no clue as to what I'd be getting and b) the whole deal seems like too much hard work. I really don't need to learn a whole load of Joomla jargon which seems to have been invented by a bunch of nerds trying to prove who is the biggest dork.

I'm sure Joomla has its users and they are probably very happy with it but I can easily live without it thanks.

There's an "Easy Cash Method" script - is that the one you mean? Trouble is - there seem to be a number of different scripts with that name The one which seems closest to what I want is

but I've bought scripts before and found them encoded/limited. Does anyone know if this one is OK?

joomla is not all that hard.
also with joomla there is a large community of users and developers to ask questions of.
The biggest problem that you should have is that there is a huge number of extensions,
just stay focused on your sites tasks put on the blinders and you wont get very lost.

i myself have a few membership sites using butterfly marketing script

I find it really easy to install and their forum (anyone can join) has loads of guys who have made custom script that would prob do the 5 perople refered=a free upgrade. Forum quite quiet but will pick up soon

this can be done manually as well but means looking at the members and seeing who has refered 5 people. That would take about a minute or so thats all, or you can have people be emailed automatically when they refer someone so you just tell them they have to claim the free upgrade from you

Any luck with Viral Mini Site alteration/modification? It seems to be dead-bolted to ClickBank offers. In other words, no flexibility and seems like a CB marketing gimmick. If the guys at VMS has better marketing sense, they would have released a higher-priced version that does not tie to CB.

If you have your own niche or do not want to do ClickBank, I don't think VMS will do the job at all, i.e. it's CB or nothing.

Anyone has any idea about a script that will do what VMS does but does not tie you to a single vendor such as CB, i.e. that you can use to sell your own products and services freely, i.e. your own content, goods, etc.

No - that mini-viral was pretty useless. The Easy Cash Method one seems like the business but I want a 'source' not an encoded script so that I can modify where required.

I remember seeing the MLM script. I think it's similar to the membership (multilevel) script you're looking for.
