Google penguin 2.0 : Looking for Freshness

This days Google search result are ranking purely on their date, NOT how many quality links the site has, how many social shares the site has, how old the domain is, how relevant the content is and so on.

If you want to rank fast, faking the dates of your post to newer and your ranking go straight back up. Below is example site which are ranking which are ranking highly with fresh dates, but the comment of articles is from 2012.

Truth about abs program is authority site that pulled millions of dollar nowhere to be found on first page and outrank by site that has newer post date.



Search for in google for "great books to read". All display the newer date. It's all about freshness. It usually display result from 2010, 2011,2012 and earlier and google ignore it.




So, if somebody want to create or has a wordpress plugin automatically change the date of the post and republished it, please inform or share it here. Thanks.

Hmm, i have to agree with you here.
However, the evidence is pretty good and i cant give a good explanation why the dates would have changed.

But, Google isnt stupid. It knows when something is new content or not and what date it first picked it up!

If the authority site is being outranked by these websites its been slapped hard by Google. Yeah after some checking its definitely been slapped. It does not even rank number 1 for truth about abs.

1. Review site last updated 15 days ago.
2-3. Youtube
4-7. No date provided
8. May 2012
9-12. No date provided
13. Feb 2012

OP is correct about freshness. However, faking the date is pretty silly because Google doesnt use dates provided by Wordpress. Google, like any company that deals with algorithms attempts to create a global scale solutions, so if tomorrow WP team suddenly decides to change its approach to post's dates, Google's algorithms wouldnt be affected.

It might be silly to change the post dates, but under current circumstances, it works and there is no denying it. Whether you implement something that's proven to work in your business is of course up to your discretion.

None the less, we don't know that Google doesn't reference the Wordpress publishing date. It can be thought by some and debated by even more - but we don't KNOW it.

Its a simple logic, really. Google cant support every WP theme out there, nor can it rely on a random date found on your page. Moreover, such an approach is rather pointless because there are easier solutions.
