newbie question

hi, this is my first post and my first question although i have been a member of this forum for a while.
first of all, if this is not the right forum to ask question please accept my apology and pls move this thread to the right forum.

so i'm a newbie in internet marketing world.. and about two months ago i purchased the covert store builder theme. thought it was great, as my second site has made me twenty something bucks thanks to long tail keywords.
so i build eight more sites all in different niches, and all using covert store builder theme.

not long after that i got my first email from google webmaster tools saying that one of my sites has "thin content" but i just ignored it. few more weeks later and i got another email saying that four of my sites have been de-indexed! all of them were judged by google as "pure spam". and just two days ago, i got another email and this time all the rest were classified again as "thin content".

so my final stats: 4 pure spam and 7 thin content sites, all using covert store builder theme.

i guess i'm just looking for consolation.. and learn where i went wrong and making sure i do not make the same mistake again. did anyone ever experience same problem, especially using the same theme? does google consider all auto-generated amazon affiliate sites as thin content / pure spam? and why the inconsistencies, some of them were classified as pure spam and some of them thin content while they were all built exactly the same way (only different niche). have anyone successfully used the same theme (or other similar theme) without getting a red flag from google?

any comments would be appreciated.. and pls be nice to me thanks

The bolded words above are a pretty big indicator that of course it is spam. The fact you have 7 sites already as a newbie is also fairly indicative that they really are thin content. Think about it from a visitors perspective - is it useful information or something they could get anywhere? If it's a bunch of affiliate products then they can definitely get it elsewhere.

This kind of stuff got all but wiped out with Panda. All of my own auto stuff was obliterated, and were the first to go.

From what I can tell there are SOME people making money with this kind of thing, but I definitely don't know them and don't see much proof any more.

Obviously the theme/package you used did not deliver. Instead of looking for a theme, take some time to build a decent site. Check the Webmaster guidelines and tick off the list of things they like to see (privacy policy, contact page etc). Or, take a gamble and keep automating; Google doesn't sport everything. Don't forget that there are other search engines too.

thanks jimmyr.. i just think google is really against affiliates trying to make money while the main purpose of their existence is to make money (adwords make more than 10 billions every year). i don't think i did anything wrong (put up a website containing about 100 of amazon products based on niche, no lying, no spamming). and i think it does provide value to the visitor because when they search for a particular longtail keyword my site would come up and amazon would also come up above my site. but then if the visitors choose to buy from my site what is wrong with that? cause i do not put any false information or trying to steal money from the visitors, in fact i am helping amazon sell their products. it is purely up to the user whether they want to trust my site or not. i just think google is one big lie.

hi seocrab, i have all those standard pages on my sites. i have a feeling google is fighting the affiliates even more as they don't want the affiliates to make money, while they themselves are making lots and lots of money.

i have a feeling you just used the same auto generated crap pages everyone else does and ranked it using spammy methods and then got upset when google saw no value in what essentially had no value.

put some work in it, it'll pay itself back

use a custom theme, actually do some writing, mass spin posts, schedule posts to go out over time instead of all at once, actually provide value to visitors
do these and some quality linking and you'll rank and stay there

coincidentally, this advice is coming from someone with a amazon autogenerated site with OVER2000 posts on it, each hawking a different product

i spun all the posts, all at once, spun the post date to schedule them at random times, and then put 7 spun posts on the site about the niche
slapped a google search widget on it, and haven't touched it in over a year, it still ranks and has never gotten messages from google

I would just be very careful in the future maybe read up ahead of time. Keep trying maybe consider a new niche if you get stuck!

Stay away from all google related tools/utilities including ESPECIALLY webmaster tools, analytics, chrome, etc etc. You leave a big footprint by saying that "Hey google! Now you can easily slam all my sites since they are all here under same account"

Personally I would go with one site and concentrate on it until you earn 20 dollars a week from it if not a day before moving on that way you can go all out on it. And what you do on one niche you can usually repeat on another .

The difference is that it is not content that they will find any more valuable then just going to Amazon itself. If you had a review/opinion to go along with it, that's a different story...

It is not about the theme you use but the content you post in your websites. I would suggest you add more quality content at least add 20 articles then add more once you've established the website. Always update your content and make sure that it is of quality. Make sure that it will benefit your readers.

hi edgematch i think this is a very good advice..
i have all my websites installed with google analytics and load them all into google webmaster tools.
after the first website got penalized i removed all the rest from gwt but left the google analytics on to check the traffics.
apparently google can still send you messages about your websites even without gwt if they still have google analytics on.. that's what happened to me

I agree with what some of the above commenter's have said. Make one decent site and work with that. Get a domain, install wordpress, choose a nice theme and write 5-10 high quality articles, with images and videos. Make sure they are unique and high quality. Do your keyword research before you start and make sure that you add some new content regularly. Keep working with that site, get to know the basics of IM and see how you get on.

Be vary careful of Google's wrath. They tend to be renowned as very very persnickety and they can seriously deteriorate a website. Do some research with the guidelines and abide by them to discontinue any problems you might have in the future otherwise for any of your future endeavors. Wish you the best of luck!
