not meaning to get pple pissed at me or anything...but removing threads like this makes it look like some mods have something to hide.

I'm getting a little sick of people accusing the staff of hiding shit. Threads get deleted all the time. 90% of you don't even notice.

Yeah you cant use the name of BHW without permission... the radio could have been called anything, but its drawing on the BHW name to get attention and viewers. In the mainstream world this would be a trademark lawsuit probably.

IMO, if you use someone's name and want to announce/advertise it on their site, you really should get permission first. Doesn't matter who controls it, etc. Not saying that's the case here because I dont really know for sure. I'd suggest getting Dave's blessing and going from there.

I wasn't advertising I was just trying to pool together some volunteers to help me make a beta and gauge community response so I could show it to dave. I can't manage volunteers without the thread.

I was going to ask for his blessing after I had something worth showing him. Now I have been forced to msg him prematurely. Lets hope his response is a blessing.

I'm really excited about doing this and so are all the volunteers and community.

yeah except that I wasn't going make public any kind of stream or website without approval from dave. The point of this isnt for me to make some random thing and rip off BHW.. The point is to make a beta and finally after approval, an official BlackHatWorld Radio.

I wasn't saying it wasn't a trademark violation, cause it probably is. My point is that if he messaged Dave before announcing the site here, then the two could have worked something out. Now we are left with a deleted thread and a bitch thread in the feedback section about it. Bad form imo.

i'm not accusing people of anything...i'm just talking as somebody that's been a member of certain forums where mods delete perfectly legit threads without giving a reason....or mods giving infractions just because they can. As a member it can be frustrating to have your thread removed, especially if you don't know why...or what rule you broke.

under circumstances which rules are violated/abused then i agree....the mods have to remove the thread...but pofecker, i've seen really really stupid posts (remember that one over the weekend having to do with a millionaire and a lamborgini?) and that thread was closed...not removed.

but this was a popular thread and got many board members excited and $hit...if the only issue was the name then a mod could have said hey folks, 'you're stepping on toes here' and i'm sure Arthas would have been like, 'oops...sorry, let's change the name to BHR "Black Hat Radio" or what ever.

anyway, i thought the project would have been really good for BHW, but what do i know?

Its not about that, he has to protect the name. Allowing you to use the name for even a little while and him knowing about it would be seen as a signal to everyone that its ok.

You should just take this matter to PMs until its resolved, and work on your radio station with another name for now. I'm sure you already have a bunch of contacts, and you can promote it in your sig once its up with a new name.
