Referrer and CPA Networks

I have a quick question about the referrer. Here is how I drive traffic:


Traffic Source > my site > Landing Page > CPA Link


Can the CPA network see my site?? or traffic source?? I think they can only see my landing page.

My site and landing pages and both different domains.

Good question and I cannot answer it but with a guess. I think the CPA network can see your Traffic source, if only through deduction from seeing it as an upstream traffic source for your website. Cookies and all that. The CPA networks should be that smart.

I think they can see the landing page only as it is from where the users click on the CPA link.

I don't think they can see anything else if you just have normal link in your landing page.

A few years ago I sent traffic from a seriously BH site to the Networks using double-metarefresh and a landing page on a "clean" site.
After a couple of months I saw, on either Quantcast or Compete.com, that the main traffic sources to my "clean" site were the BH site and an Adult traffic Network I was using to lower my CTR's
Have no idea how those 3rd party sites picked up the traffic sources to my clean site...even asked on here at the time, but never got an answer. Needless to say, I stopped using that method immediately.
Can't really give any answer regarding how third party tracking or "spy" sites pick up their info, but, if they can, so can the CPA Networks (who tend to have accounts on those type of sites anyway).

Quantcast , compete and alexa using kinda same technology actually ... they have extreme large networks of computers '' infected '' with their toolbars . When traffic starts flowing they pickup new landers pretty quick due the volume ... nothing bad there lol.

Well take this like that:

My secret traffic source > LP > CPA offer link

What I am asking here is: Can the CPA network see from where the traffic is coming from to my LP because I have been doing some blackhat stuff and have a secret traffic source. I do not want to reveal my traffic source.

One thing which looks quite strange is how the companies like alexa and others gather data even when I am not using their toolbar. They have all the info like from where most of your traffic coming from etc...

The only data the CPA Network will be aware of is the data that you provide. They are able to tell the referral url because that is typical sent over once a user clicks on an offer. Unless your main site is dropping cookies for the affiliate link, then you should be in the clear.

That's cause it depends how black hat and determined the network is. :euro: If you owned a network, given time you could discover anything!
A cpa network who doesn't know about and use bhw is food. Thats why I prefer black hat networks that don't give a fuck to an extent.

Exactly this + They can always Google/Search for your LP domain/URL to see where the site is posted. That's why you should enter your LP on YT vids as bit.ly or any other shortened url site.

If you don't, they can simply search for your site/LP and see where it is posted.

Also, remember that the referrer CAN be faked, so if they find you faked the referrer and the URL has no visibility, it wuld raise some red flags.

Sometimes referral data gets passed in your host header(request-header field)
another way around this issue, if your affraid to show your referral would be to use 3rd party tracker.
Like using cloak feature with https from bevo.

traffic source > bevo tracking url > LP > bevo offer url > CPA offer link
or
traffic source > bevo integrated bitly url > bevo tracking url > LP > bevo offer url > CPA offer link

Ok I don't wanna start a new thread so I will ask away here.

I have a LP that redirects to the CPA offer.

Now when I try to check the referrer after getting redirected by my LP (to check this I placed a dummy website in place of my cpa offer) it shows my referrer is the dummy website not the landing page that means if i now place the cpa offer it will show the referrer is the cpa offer when infact it should have been the landing page.

What am trying to do is conceal my landing page and want to know if this domain redirect does the job.

Try the javascript redirect. It should do the trick.
