Does Negative SEO work in the recent Google Algorithm changes?

Just curious if Negative SEO is working since the recent google algorithm changes. I know it use to, but I think Google was suppose to patch that so it wasn't so easy. I personally have never done Negative SEO, but I kind of want to just to see if it works.

I see people selling the services, but I wouldn't pay for it. You can probably just buy a $5 fiverr gig and get the same results. Lol

As long as Google is issuing penalties towards sites, which it ALWAYS will, it will work. But that's just wrong to destroy someone else's hard work if they did nothing to you.

Basically, why you want to know that Negative SEO works or not? Always remember there is a natural phenomena of Tit for Tat. Yes Negative SEO works but what I suggest you is to not wasting time in this thing. If you have a lot of time to invest then do positive SEO of your website and make the things happen.

Good point. But is this true for sites like Amazon, for example? You'd think if a network of Neg SEO folks decided to bring down a top 5 website in the world, it would make Google rethink how they punish websites due to all the publicity.

Google actually took action on these recent updates created from the JC Penny fascicle. There was so much bad press that Google had to take action against SEO spammers (ie., forum profiles, blast scrapebox comments, article directories, link directories and etc...)

It's very hard to make it work against a very old site with a very long history of being good with Google and with overwhelmingly many good links already. That means it will never work on Amazon.com and it may not work against a very big, old competitor, but it's much more likely to torpedo a new upstart in your niche.

This also leads some to speculate that you can play with fire a bit more freely if your site is 3-20 years old already.

Putting Ethics aside for a second: In answer to your question, yes Negative SEO is working better than ever. I'm not encouraging you to do it, but I've had a bunch of clients who have come to me as victims of Negative SEO many times having to start their site from scratch due to relentless attacks wiping their rankings out.

Exactly. Google most likely has something in their algorithm now that would block any negative effects on such big sites like eBay, Amazon, Tumblr, etc.

Playing politics for a moment, I think it would be interesting to Negative SEO a big site just to put some heat on Google, maybe then they will show compassion for the little people like me. Imagine if one group (and I mean BIG group) tried to take eBay or Amazon down and it didn't work, but then suddenly backlink watchers will notice a bunch of spam backlinks and negative publicity starts all over again like it did with JC Penny. Google wants to stay under the radar when it comes to negative publicity.

I guess my point is it's heart-wrenching knowing that the little people (who make Google what it is today) are the ones getting shit on. They don't care about small businesses who work hard to get rank so they can not only feed their families, but create more jobs. I think Google should only penalize what webmasters do on their actual website SEO rather than off site SEO, becuse we don't always have full control over who links to us... but we do have full control what we do internally on our website.

This would work with very small sites only. if these sites were to recieve a message everytime they geta backlink, they will need to setup enitre "Backlink Monitoring Division" to monitor all of those. Virtually impossible.

Of course negative SEO works and it especially works with cheap services. But is that really how you want to get ahead?

You can use that same time, energy and money to focus on your website and SEO campaigns. Make your product, service or website better than the others and you won't have to worry about scammy things like negative seo.
