Year and a half later ... Panda 3.3 affects (not good)

Panda, Penguin, Venice, Code7, Operation underground... gah! And google search results aren't any better.

Here's a look at my site a year and a half later. I pretty much given up on it. Peaking at 5,000 daily visitors to a mere 220 yesterday. Went from $3,000 month revenue to a mere $120 (adsense clicks)

part of me was thinking about selling it on Flippa back in the summer of 2012 before it got hit, sure wish I would have now =(

Thanks. Yeah I have been targeting Facebook and learned how to make content go viral. It's not hard to achieve. I can get an extra 200 visitors from Facebook pretty easily. I also have a HUGE email list both on Feedburner (1600 subscribers) and Mailchimp (8,000 subscribers). So when I post new content I get a surge in traffic. My website is almost 7 years old and I focused a great amount on Brand building. I've been featured in many notable magazines and have famous followers / commentors. It's crazy how quickly you can fall. My website was top 3 in its niche (guitar) behind Guitr-World and Premiar-Gutiars. I've had band interviews, been invited to conventions with gobbs of famous guitar players, I was on the real deal at the time. I think my brand was worth a lot back in its hay-day.

Yeah i think that is part of the problem as well. When I woke up that horrible day back in February of 2012 and noticed I lost almost 3,000 daily visitors, I pretty much threw in the towl. It was so much work getting it to that point that I just completely lost interest. I felt like the "popularity" in my niche was fun, but only $3,000 monthly revenue didn't really pay for the hard work I've done to get it there... So I took different approaches to make more money and put that site on the back burner. It still rakes in $120/month, so it's nice (free) income I guess.

That's how I'm earning my money right now is doing SEO. I do mostly local SEO because it is easier and local small businesses pay really well. I cant imagine how people survive selling services so cheap in the BST section... get in to local SEO and you can earn a killing and getting results is so much easier!

Check out justinguitar.com I have been learning some stuff and found him on youtube. He's pretty good at marketing and I don't think he's getting most of his viewers from SEO.

Yeah I've been watching evaluating his SEO/Marketing work. He's really came a long way in the last year and half. When one guy falls, another rises. I'm glad they are doing well in my place instead of some crappy splog spam site with spun content.

When was the first drop? I;ve read on the below blog that excessive anchor texts is the problem if the drop date was 2/18/12

Well same here :} A lot of money spend on wrong seo services and software, nothing more... I don't really know where to find quality seo, I think the main reason is that google want to earn money via adwords :S

Yeah I bought about about 5 domains with PageRank 3-6 and DA50+ that were former Wordpress theme creators, so they have tons of backlinks, I use them as a personal blog network. The content I post on this network ranks really high but it seems like the link juice isn't helping my money site. I also did some other SEO work like built WEB2.0 blogs (squidoo/Tumblr) and about 40 others for Tier 2 and blasted them with backlinks. Not seeing a notice.

Things that might be an issue on my blog is I have a high amount of affiliate links from amazon and cj.com that are cloaked and adsense above the fold. I also used WP Unique in the past on this blog which was a HUGE mistake, but I removed it. Not sure if there is a footprint left somewhere that Google can see and doesn't like. I see the creator of WP Unique is still selling that product knowing full well it is not safe to use, what a douche!

Another bad plugin I used was the EzineArticles plugin which posted my articles straight from my site to EzineArticles, which might explain the Farmer update hit.
