Google Analyticator WordPress Plugin added tracking by dev, why?

I run Google Analyticator WP plugin for G analytics and today while looking through the source code I noticed an extra line which seems to have been added by the developer to track info from the sites running the plugin. Can someone explain why he would like to track our sites?

If it's to see if the plugin is working as intended then that's overkill. I don't feel safe someone tracking everything on my site, perhaps he likes stealing keywords. I disabled it and am currently using the inbuilt one with all-in-one seo plugin.

Just disable the plugin and manually paste the raw analytics code on the header yourself. Locate header.php under your theme folder and off you go.

Most probably because they wanted to track how many users are downloading and actually using their plugins. Just remove it if it bothers you.

That's a not so nice way. Why add an analytics code which sends statistics to the dev? He could just implement a little code that signals activity to a site of his.

Well lol yeah, but a lot of devs do that. Some of them even add tracking code inside the backend. It's not against the WP terms so, you can't say anything even if they do. Just remove that piece of shit. Simple!
