I was wondering but couldn't find a thread related to this topic, so I'm opening a new one.

Title says it all, what do you think the MOST important skill is for IM and why ?

Like coding, PPC, SEO etc..

You can write a few, or a lot, depends..

But, please explain what skill has been valuable to you and why.

Cheers.

+1 for presistence. Coding can help alot no matter what you are doing in IM.

Good, but post educational skills as well.

I would say the experience of being right more times than wrong...

This business is no place for lazy people and freeloaders...

For me it's the skill of knowing how to communicate with your audience.
When I say "communication" I'm talking about two types of communication:

1. Call-to-Actions: Getting them to take action (buy something or sign up for something).
2. Conversations: Providing pre-sales and customer service.

One can have all of the skills in the world, but unless they know how to properly communicate with their target audience, they'll just end up being a person with lots of skills..but no money to show for it.

I would say coding... Learn coding if you want to stick in IM for long.. It will definitely help you in the long run!

IM requires a complication of skillsets, but I'm tempted to say marketing. When you know how to sell, it opens so many doors.

Altough for me personally, it's definitely SEO, that's how I get most of my traffic.

Hungry to learn new things - fuck me i was coding NTL boxes when i got into IM

The biggest skill for me is the ability to "SEARCH" as I don't need to know everything.
I just need to know how to find the answers to my questions.

That is why I get disappointed with new members when they ask a basic question, that has been answered 100's of times before or could have been answered by Googling it. Although I am probably the laziest person on this board, I despise seeing it in others especially when people have found BHW but don't spend time reading and not realising what a tremendous resource this place is.

The ability to write and convey a clear message that motivates your customer to act. That's an art form in itself! Yo can nail everything else but if you come up short here you will never convert!

This ^
The fact that I am able to find the information I need 99% of the time is more valuable to me than a personal panel of IM 'gurus' at hand to answer my every question.
Give a man a fish...

my ability to make people sign their 401k's to me :)

Product Selection ( Choose a product that is in demand)
Content that converts ( Learn as much about copywriting as you can)
Getting targeted Traffic, ( whether it is done with SEO ppc or social, If you dont connect with the right people your wasting your time)

You must always ask yourself before you start, can I fulfill these 3 conditions

Get these 3 things right and you got ot made

Just as I thought, marketing is still on top of the list.

Being a hardworking person sums it all. It will acquire you the experience and knowledge necessary to become a successful Internet marketer and a great person as a whole.

What good is your coding skills if you're a lazy ass?
