Safely buying established twitter accounts without getting scammed

Hey, I was looking for some tips in regards to buying established twitter accounts through paypal without getting scammed.

In this particular instance, I'm buying an account with 130k. I have already tried to pay for this account through paypal twice, selecting the 'Pay for goods or services' option both times. Both times the guy said that for some reason he couldn't accept the payment, and refunded me. He then said that I should select the 'Family or friends' option so that he could accept the payment.
Is that true, has anyone experienced this problem with paypal before? If I pay through the family or friends option, am I covered by paypal if he scams me?

Anyone with experience in buying established social media accounts please give me some tips!

You are about to be scammed. Please don't send money to whoever you're dealing with.

The reason being: He is trying to have you send the money via a payment method that paypal doesn't cover.

Don't trust the guy you're dealing with. Don't even try to find a different payment method. Just forget it and move on.

Damn, that's a bummer. So it's not likely that he is having legit problems? The only reason I ask is that I have known this guy for awhile (online only) and he does seem trustworthy.

There's a chance, though not a big one.

You said he refunded the money. Keyword is refunded. He received the money, but he knew you could just dispute and demand a refund so he sent it back and asked you to send it so you couldn't dispute the money.

Word i think the way he is going about saying it is kinda shady... if you think about it from a factual point of view... maybe he doesn't want to be scammed by you by having you dispute it afterwards but hes definitely full of shit saying he hasn't received it or w.e

Another reason why he might want you to choose family/friend option is that PayPal won't charge him the usual percentage fees. Depending on the sum you pay it can be easily 50-100$ he will save with that method.
and as far as I know PayPal anyway doesn't have the dispute option for digital goods.

My next transactions will probably be through escrow, already got scammed once and learnt my lesson.

Cheers for the heads up guys, he finally sold the account to someone this morning after scamming a few people. I guess even if you think someone is trustworthy it pays to be careful if it involves money...

yes, get the money out of your paypal account balance, so you can be on zero and pay with paypal using your credit/debit card, very simple, if anything goes wrong open a chargeback at your bank and you will have your money back in a few weeks, nothing to loose ...

You got to meet people in person for large deals. I've been in one where I had a duffle bag with cash and flew out to meet him. Yes it was sketchy, but there is no other way to do it safely. If you are dealing with an account that big, if it is real your paying a decent amount. Ask him where he lives and see if you can set it up.
