Million Dollar But NO Programming SKills... What do you think I should do

Like the title says I have some great, great, great ideas I want to get started on...

I'm like Steve jobs with out the other Steve at this point.

I need to find someone in my local area who has skills in the IM world, programming and web development.

How do you guys think I should go about doing this.

I would not trust anyone online so dont even go there unless you know of something good as these ideas are really worth while.

What I am saying is I have some great ideas, but I don't know how to program so I cant make them a reality.

I need to a find some trust worthy programmers and I was asking for ideas on how to go about finding them locally or possibly online.

Without a good team your ideas cost nothing. Development speed is everything. Hire professionals in their fields and catch their interest in participating (% etc.). You can find the right people on the Odesk or Elance.

Trust is something earned over time... Either meeting him in person or not won't assure you anything.

We've been working with a "partner"/"friend" for about a year and our relation was good... he ended up trying to fuck up me...

I've got more trust on people I met online and live far from where I am, than people that I met in person.

I don't know... trust is something weird these days. It's not easy to find the "ideal" partner though.

The problem is that you can't go ahead with big projects working alone... well at least that's the problem I've always had.

If I do find someone online, I think I would start with a basic project I have in mind and go from there to the big ones if things are working accordingly.

I would prefer someone offline as I want to work in person to really express the vision and give it hard go, rent office space and hustle HARD.

Also I should mention that this isn't some little petty affiliate scheme or some wack email list venture.

What I am wanting to build is a real business, with a solid foundation, complete with infrastructure, built around innovation.

I have no doubt I am going to make it, it is now just a matter of getting there.

I should also note that I have had other business ventures in the past, so this wouldn't be my first go around.

-I have a small marketing company here in my city specializing in proximity marketing.

Unless you're willing to put up $100K+ for a true dev team, I'd suggest dropping everything you're doing and just learning to program.

I hear the "I have a million dollar idea" about once a week from leads and they end up either wanting me to throw it together for less than $500 or to do it for free and get stock when their idea because successful. They're both jokes.

do a little bit of research and make a plan of action

split your idea into smaller pieces that don't make sense / lead to your main idea and hand them out to freelancers (like a puzzle)

meanwhile learn a little bit of coding and when you receive the projects compile them together

if you can't put your trust in someone you either need money or the skill to make them believe that you're a sucker who's paying them to do easy shit that makes no sense

It depends what language and the scope of your project.

For me to get a full grasp on PHP, like a second language, it took about two years. Don't let that discourage you as most of it can be learned a lot sooner than that. But if you want to truly dive deep, it will take a bit longer.

You might want to take a look into RoR (Ruby on Rails). Developers, such as myself, love it because of it's MVC (model-view-controller) structure which leads to quicker dev time.

Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking. Some locations are easier to find a programmer than others.

Based on what I've read so far you have two options:

1) Learn how to program and code everything yourself. The time it takes to learn really depends on the individual. If you have to learn multiple programming languages then it may take a little longer. To give you an idea, I learned how to code the basics of a new programming language in about a week. I already knew PHP and JS, but that only helped me to a point. I'm no expert, but I'm already coding things that would be marketable. I'm not saying it'll take you a week, but you could learn the basics in a few weeks. Then, after that, you would learn about the more complex things. This really depends on the individual though.

2) Take the leap of faith and hire/trust a programmer. As simple as that.

I'd suggest option 1. Why? Multiple reasons... But the main reason: By coding it yourself you'll know how everything works. It'll give you the ability to go ahead and fix bugs or code updates. You won't have to shell out more money and wait for a programmer to do everything.

That's just my opinion.
