Getting first paying client - advise please..

Am I missing something here OP? If you are so confident you can rank any site on first page and keep it there, why not just rank your own website first and get a steady 100/day going and fund yourself with that. String clients afterwards will be a lot easier plus you have a portfolio of sites to show them.

^^^Exactly. Offering 100% 1st page rankings to anyone....so why aren't you using these methods for yourself??

Also...don't offer "Double Money Back" when you have no money - what if they take you up on your offer? Then you are up shits creek with no paddle.

When I got my first paying client I too had nothing to show him, he was from BHW itself. Mate you only need to talk. Be confident and talk like who you are, don't fake to be a pro or something, because to hide one lie you will have to tell many more lies. Till today I get my clients without showing them any portfolio. I never show any of my work to the other clients. So I would just suggest you to talk confidently to whatever lead you get.

Somehow you make me more confident though. Thanks for your advice. And yes you're right. Not trying to fake or be a pro here..

OP, I haven't read the whole thread but the guarantees you give in your opening post seem too good to be true and maybe that is why you have struggled to get clients.
I don't think your service has been tested properly to be able to give those sorts of guarantees.
Maybe you should offer something realistic such as a guaranteed increase in SERPS.

Correction. The tools and resources i'm gonna use has been tested and the results are guaranteed. I won't provide guarantee if i cannot deliver though. That would be shame on me.

Yes you missing something. The tools i need not yet on my hand. That's why I have to find my first paying client so that i can use his money to buy the tools.

So, you are guaranteeing first page of Google, no matter what their keywords might be?

This doesn't make sense, how can your system have been tested, if you haven't even got the tools yet?

Please do not do this. Starting a business this way is a recipe for disaster and its acts like this that give freelancers and SEO professionals alike a bad name.

Yes, it is. But ranking generic keywords are harder compared to local searches keywords. That's why i'm looking for offline clients as their keywords easily ranked.

Please just stop the madness. So an "offline client" wants to rank for "Attorney Los Angeles" and you will guarantee them 1st page with the SEO tools you need to buy. Once they pay you.

....Amazing.

Nothing in SEO is guaranteed. And if you can't rank a website without the tools. You won't have a clue what to do when you get your hands on them.
Don't put barriers in front of yourself, you don't need the tools. The tools will help, but if you can rank guaranteed, then you should be able to rank without them.

Just because the tools claim to be "tested", "proven", and "guaranteed" - Don't get over sold by the sales-pitch there is no push button tools that will guarantee SEO.
You need to have the knowledge to use the tools correctly.

From what you've said in this thread, I would be afraid to let you use tools on my site..

Please don't get me wrong. Its not that i'm begging to client,
"hey Mr. client, do you want your website on google first page? If so, pay me first, I buy the tools and get your website on first page"
Do you think thats the situation?
No. i'm looking for advice in here though. So your advice would be, quit?

My advice:

1. Get your "tools"
2. Practice/test/rank on your own sites

...then try to get clients.

The way you are planning to do it now is a disaster waiting to happen.

You have also been given advice here http://www.quora.com/Search-Engine-...oney-Back-Guarantee-can-buy-SEO-clients-trust
but you seem determined not to listen.

Alright then. Advice accepted with thanks. Long way to go.

why don't you make a video review of your own website, post it on youtube, then send it some views, likes, comments, etc.
Many websites do that for free or cheap.. such as fiverr or enhanceviews

hope this helps!
