Have you tried downloading the latest Java update?
Also if the java file is a download try downloading it again.

Try removing all old versions of Java

Then try installing the latest Offline Java Installation

It is only required on some websites or to run Java (Jar) files locally.
It can be a security risk so if you don't require it you are better off without it.

Yes but if you are not running any programs developed in Java then you don't require the Virtual Machine or the Runtime Environment.

Ridiculous, why do we ALL need it?
I haven't run Java for the last 6 months because I haven't needed it and it has too many recent security problems.
