A little guidance with keywords please

Hello

I am reading about all aspects of SEO and keywords etc and have bought my Scrapebox so I'm ready to go right? well, not exactly. I sat down to start looking at my keywords this morning and I'm getting myself a little tied up so if someone can put me on the right path that will be great.

First, My new blog is business related and each post will be about a different subject, Sourcing supplies, writing a business plan, start a home business etc. In addition to these ever changing posts I will have some static pages that will be for me to sell my services (Blog writing, promotional videos etc)

Im thinking for the static pages I should look for the best keywords for these pages and use them within each page.

But for the individual posts, Do I just do the same. I have read in posts some people take up to a week to find keywords, This seems a long time for a post as well as researching and writing to give quality content. So how would you guys deal with this? For example, a post I am writing now is about online trade directories.

There is no need to spend a week researching keywords for a blog post.
You can just think of the main subject of your post, and find 1 to 3 frequently searched for keywords to use in the title pf the post or somewhere along the lines.
These can be long-tail keywords, too.

u need to find the keyword with more monthly searches that fits to what you are doing, there is no need to rank some keyword with 1 monthly click. use keyword tool to check what is the most searched word that describes whatever you want to promote.
for example: H2O or Water? both describe the same thing but if you do keyword research you will see which one you should use...
example was random ofc.
after finding your targeted keywords, then try to include them in your articles. ideal keyword density is 2%.

OP, you just need to check KW for Keywords Tools that is right.
If you want to be more efficient about KW research, I Strongly recommend you to buy Ultimate Niche Finder OR Market Samurai. Both are excellent IMO. I will go with UNF at your "level" (no offense).
They will provide KW Competition from a SEO point of view. Do not look at KW competition on Google KW Tools ==> ITS A TRAP.

And do not focus on KW density. Use smart meta, h1, h2, even h3 and b/strong, i/em markup.
Use KW variation too. Use images with related alt... And yeah, there are PLENTY onpage optimization articles on BHW written by people with a lot more experience than me. Search for them and bookmark it

Ive had a look at UNF but I want to get used to doing it by hand for now before moving onto tools. It looks good though

For your overall site and pages keywords it's necessary to give it adequate time for research when starting otherwise you have already failed even before the take off the project. Subsequent blog post can be done off mindely or with little research.

Also, if/when your blog does take off a good place to get article ideas is from followers and the comments sections (if there are any) of your current articles. Or just look at which articles did the best and do a logical next step of those to make a 'series' in an attempt to replicate the traffic. This way you know that you will at least get some traffic and you can provide the content your followers are looking for so they will likely come back.

But you would have to have been live for at least a little bit for that to count. Just remember it in the future.

PS in those posts where you are reading that people are taking up to a week to find kw's, I would wager those are posts where people are looking to invest in a niche for the next few months or years and will be making affiliate sites or something along those lines

Go to the keyword research tool, put in your main keyword and look at the results along with the related keywords. Take the the highest volume keywords and then create pages around them. Focus on 1 or 2 keywords per page. Not more. The week planning that you speak of it probably attributed to properly planning out which pages will be on your site, what content will be created and which keywords will be targeted within the content.

I spent some time on Google keyword tool yesterday looking for keywords to do with a post due to be released. The post is about buying stock from China and due diligence steps. so I tried lots of keywords and phrases around this subject but got nothing back. I set my search for US and UK, searched above 1000 per month and High/Medium... It was odd so I tested other keywords such as 'car' which returned info... I guess some subjects just dont have high results .... I thought dealing with China, wholesalers, suppliers etc would be a decent one.

Don't sweat it f you cannot find keywords for a specific post. Write it anyway, and there will be longtails it will rank for.

Try to use them when you can, write for the reader when you can't.
