Hi,

When it comes to seo, you can either do it yourself or hire someone like on the seo link building marketplace.

Obviously, the higher your budget, be it you take the right services and have everything else covered (right kw selection, good on site etc), the better your results.

I'm on a budget right now and I can invest more time than money. And I do have plenty of time.

So I'm wondering to what extent one can do seo on a budget, doing it himself.

Many of the seo services provide stuff I feel can be done without outsourcing :

  • wiki blasts
  • blog comments
  • web 2.0 submissions
  • tumblr, pligg etc
  • guest posts

I'm not saying it's not a pain though.

Of course, some other tactics require investment :
  • Blog networks, SAPE etc
  • social signals (unless you got outstanding content and an existing audience, in case you don't need seo as much)
  • and everything else I don't have in mind right now that needs investment (personal high PR blog network for example)

So here's my point, or my questions actually :

1 - do you guys have experience doing your seo work yourself ?
2 - did you get good results ?
3 - do you recommend any strategy in particular ?
4 - What tools would you recommend ?

If it helps I have :
hosting
domain (the money site)
scrapebox
time
a little bit of money to invest in the right tools.

Thanks guys !

Yes, we get good results doing SEO ourself. Simple answer no need to explain a lot. :-)

If you hire some services most likely they will use automation tool for all tires but as you said you have enough time and money then i suggest you to do manual link building with your hands for tier 1 and 2 and then as you already have scrapebox then use it for spamming..

You basically have every thing you need to start a pretty good SEO campaign. Learn how to use scrapebox, It's a grate tool for finding and filtering links. There's a bunch of tutorials on the forum just search for a few.

Well, actually I'd love to have some kind of details on how you do it doing if you feel like it. :)

Thanks mate.

I'd say if you are new, it's better to get someone else to do it who's trusted at Bhw. I say this because I have been doing seo for years yet even now I would outsource for my clients, why? Because its better to multitask, and not put Ll your eggs in one basket. Have multiple money sites, invest little money into seo from one of the trusted seo members here, And eventually you'll have a better network of money sites.

I understand your point Kasher. But I don't have enough budget to ensure several months of outsourced seo services (quality ones that is)

Plus, if I do get the "don't put all your eggs in the same basket", I also know for a fact that doing too many things at the same time generally ends up doing pretty much nothing, for me at least.

As far as tools are concerned, I get scrapebox for blog comments, that I'll use to 2nd or 3rd tier. But what about tools for social bookmarks for example ? Would you recommend one in particular ?

Thanks

1. Yes, if you can outsource your work, this means you're providing crap service which everyone can do so you don't care if they know your "secrets"
2. Yes
3. Yes, there are 2 things that will lead to success. 1st- Never tell everything you know
4. Google, yes Google search engine. I also use SEO Quake tool bar. That's it, no more tools in my pocket

Thanks for your reply.

However, I'm not really sure where to go from here :). Care to share what you mean by using google as a seo tool ?

I've got the best results when I started doing SEO by myself. I bought several services from here but I wasn't very impressed with the quality. If you have time as you said then just learn, practice and work hard. Learn to use scrapebox and you have a very effective tool in your hands.

What they are saying in a nutshell is read and do. Most folks here do their own SEO or know how to do it. You can do everything yourself, then as you learn what you are doing, you can look into tools to automate and make it faster. Right now your ahead of where I started, didnt even have scrapebox.

Learn scrapebox and how to use it -- if you have that down pat, you can run a very successful SEO campaign with just that.

Thanks for you encouraging input.

Well, that would be too much, I can't tell you everything:)

Looks like you're respecting the principles you mentionned above. :)

I get it.

I won't say I woudln't like some more specifics, especially regarding tools to automate social bookmarks, as I guess those are not classified information, but I do get it.

Thank for your replies guys.

The companys/ people that do seo for you specialize in it and they usually provide high quality services that will improve serps quickly and wont ruin your site.

Also submit your site to google, bing, yandex and build your GOOGLE+1. And to get your website more successful add it to DMOZ directory. But still GOOGLE +1 is very very important.

DMOZ would be good for sure.

Thanks for that.
