Seeking advice with $6000

Starting Cash: $6000

Not in a rush, i want to do as much research as possible.

Looking for any potential options or advice in what direction i should be headed offline vs online marketing or both?

software development/app/websites that take what is already done and trying to improve upon it and marketing with SEO and social networks?

trying to create a video game or product and trying to achieve funds via kickstarter?

So many ways and options.


So i guess what i am asking is if someone could share either an experience in what they did, offer advice on what i should do?

perhaps you have an idea or a venture you might need a partner in?

Anything you can think of i am willing to hear.

Well. First, I would recommend you focus on investing in something long term.

Second, I have a question. What's your passion? It would be a great idea to spend at least half that $6k on something that'll you'll actually enjoy and that'll bring in some profit.

To be honest i have a passion for wanting and dreaming to build a franchise or a company from the ground up that eventually goes public haha but i do enjoy reading alot about offline and online marketing/niche ideas.

I was into the idea of paying someone to build a bunch of niche websites and applying cheap seo to them to try and gain profit per month but im not sure if that idea is a solid idea.

My second idea so far was to do offline hand written mail to businesses in bulk locally for SEO, web services, apps, etc.

Other than that not much.


What do you mean by a long term investment? like the stock market?

i have a few video game concepts for the app that will be highly graphical and yet entertaining with new social interactions and interesting gaming aspects for the mobile experience.

The real issue is if i spend 5-6 grand then i need to spend a considerable chunk on a website/SEO/social media marketing and when it all boils down, how will i make a profit from this after such a large loss already?

Seems like too big of a risk for a game concept that i find would be absolutely appealing

These threads never come in much use in my opinion. You're much better just deciding for yourself and doing your own research. So many conflicting opinions. If you want to build a big company, then I would suggest you start learning direct-response marketing, and really teach yourself how to sell through trial and error, and understand data.

Buy marketing/sales books. Read all the marketing and sales books you can get your hands on.

Three things I'd focus on:

1. How to market a product
2. How to sell a product (close people down on your site)
3. Understanding your data (who's on average is your typical customer, is she white, female and aged 65?)

Once you really understand all this you'll be unstoppable, and you'll leave 99% of the people in this industry behind who are still trying to game a few bucks out of a 3rd tier CPA network.

interesting. so you think i should essentially try to market my own products and begin a business venture and slowly bring it from the ground up vs cpa networks etc. its funny though but it does seem like 99% of people want to make a quick buck off of the internet but i feel like the internet is slowly becoming less of a profit for all of these networks etc

First of all i would say you are starting off good with a lot of research and not rushing it.
There is a bit of luck involved with starting up a successful business from the ground,research is the main focus and finding the hole in the market.
But anything is possible if you stay on the target and go 100% for it,starting from the ground involves a lot of work.
You could try 2-3 things and invest a bit on all of them and invest more along the road when you see the results on the different projects.
I started out with just 500$ and made 120k in a year,so you do not need that much investment if you do it right from the start.

oh yes i have no intent on rushing at all. i want to make sure i have everything prepared and in order before i jump on any project, venture etc.

You should learn how to sell basically. Doesn't matter what you are selling, the skills are transferable and highly scalable as I'm sure you're aware. If you want to get started quickly I would suggest you start promoting either weight loss pills or bizopp offers. These are both massive niches especially weight loss pills they make hundreds of millions a year.

You want to first master a traffic source. Find something you like the look on and make it work, most traffic sources can be made highly profitable. People just get lazy and impatient, if you try hard enough you will succeed. I don't really like SEO because it's difficult to control and somewhat random, but as a beginner creating churn and burn sites might be an idea.

These are sites that rank for a short period of time and then start to flop, but once it starts to flop you just replace it with a fresh site. But you need traffic, and you need quite a bit of it to play with, I mean it's all well reading blogs and books but you need to put theory into practice. Split testing landing pages and understanding how people respond to different components of it, such as text and graphics etc.

Then once you've mastered selling and you've mastered traffic source, you're then in a very strong position to start your big company. If that makes sense.

I mean you're going to have lots of little failures along the way, you might as well start small and learn the ropes.

I also would prefer niches that are popular and huge but are easy to sell. They may be competitive but at least you are able to target a variety of audiences. I also agree you should know how to sell effectively. Many people try to start a business online without the right knowledge and they turn out to waste more of their time and money because they were in the rush for results. Good luck, mate!

Whatever you do, don't buy any services from the BHW vultures that will be pming you once they see you have 6k to invest. Study hard and when you have found enough different avenues that you can take your money, then you will know which will be the smartest decision for YOU personally. Don't jump into something if you can't atleast partially enjoy it
