Writing Articles for Traffic

For many years now I have been writing content on a whole range of subjects and genres. But the irony is that every time I write a storyline with some variety and interest I always get a flood of viral traffic with the added bonus of some quality back links (They always come in handy when they are FREE!)

Let me explain how I added different styles of content to two very similar sites this last 12 months.

Site 1 - Bland factual content, all grammar checked, rigid content no flair. Strictly like what you might find in a quality broadsheet newspaper like - The Washington Post - WSJ - Site making $100 a month from adsense et al.

Site 2 - Flamboyant somewhat racy content if appropriate, and often with great storylines aimed at folks who follow the likes of Huffington Post - New York Post - TMZ - The Sun - The Daily Mail and more- now here is the financial kicker this site is making over $300 a month from adsense et al.

Read into the above what you like!

But working on the Internet for me is how much green money $$$$ can I make!

Some folks still don't seem to focus enough importance on how much money will written articles make me.

Thanks I agree, that is often the case. But the financial rewards from running likes of 'The Washington Post' in 2013 realize diminishing returns hence why this is breaking news today...

Great and encouraging post! I'm doing the same thing right now: writing articles for a big JV project that i have with a fellow BHW'er.
I'm just curious how many articles do you have on each website and how many do you add per day/week?

Nice post and hopefully it inspires commercial writers to up the bar.

Personally, i've noticed that when you explain the complex things in the most simplest of terms (using simple real life examples to illustrate the point), that works wonders as well. I've had ('surprising') back links from high traffic sites (internet portals + well known newspaper sites) purely because of this...

And for tiered links, I take a few branches out of the main article and write up a new one, this way I have original informative content that I can then publish on other sites to build more links.

Also another point is to have something handy so when the idea/topic hits you its easy to make a note of it and build up content.. some of my writing ideas come when commuting, I mentally build up the structure couple of times so by the time i'm actually typing it out, there's a steady flow of info/ideas.

I only add new articles on my own sites when I have time, so it is all somewhat unplanned...

But I know from experience that adding content on a daily basis = $$$$$ Revenue.

Therein lies the dichotomy publish trash and get slapped by G...

I am no stranger to writing some 'off the wall' content but what I do know is that if you write 'Trashy Tabloid Style' content like in TMZ - HP - The Sun and more you will not get slapped...

Where do you get content from? Do you rewrite or do you constantly come up with your own unique content?

I research and read up on the topic, then I write 'on the fly' unique content...

Always searching for an interesting storyline that will catch eyeballs...

A point worth mentioning there is no such thing as perfect content, because all readers and writers have preference for certain topics and genres...

You shouldn't posts all the articles in one day, it should be posted slowly and naturally or progressively for getting better result.

Yes sometimes this is very true. However on the flip side, sometimes when buyers pay for articles, they expect to pay the writer peanuts, which is not fair either!

Blogging is a good ay to earn online with your articles or content. Start a blog on the niche on which you can write effectively. Promote the blog to get more visitors and earn money through Adsense revenue of it.

A well writing article with the right SEO keywords can by itself already bring a great traffic.Doing some promotion it will bring even more.These traffic will convert in to money simple by using Adsense or any Affiliated Network.
