Anyone else notice that google is editing the titles of your pages in search results and adding branding of your site in the titles? Its really messing me up here, its making the optimized keyword titles too long. there adding "Brand : your title" to search results. Is this going to effect my keyword?

I haven't seen this yet on any of the sites I control, and didn't notice it for any searches I've queried.

Yes they are doing this with my site too. My site title was like this "Cheap Web Hosting - Brand Name". Google renamed it to "Brandname.com: Cheap Web Hosting" and the most annoying part is I can't do anything to change my title.

Fuuuuuck. They probably figure if they're shooting blanks into a hoo-er they won't get infected.

They'll give up on this quicker than the +1 next to each SERP hopefully. Just looks completely unprofessional. I bet if you searched a domain with high authority, or looked at adwords this wouldn't be effective.

They used to do that back in the days with dmoz listings. They grabbed your dmoz anchor text and used it with your website title

I'm doing something similar with an EMD anyways, but it's also a self proclaimed brand, so I'm not completely against it for one of my sites. I just don't like that you can't even describe your individual page without manipulation, let alone title it yourself for SERP's, that's really fucked up.

The sites im working on don't have a DMOZ listing. Im seeing it happening a lot for local pages.

I don't see this happen on my local business websites, maybe not yet, let's wait few more weeks if there is any changes.

Google has been playing around with this for some time in some form or another. It's really irritating but it's usually temporary while they beta test things.

I hope it is temporary, because it can't be changed and it is also showing on the title of pages where I don't want it. I have noticed that if I search for some of my keywords, it doesn't show it.

Im using wordpress.with yoast seo. What are you guys using as a cms? Maybe that had something to do with it?
