Keyword limits on internal pages?

Hello,

Is it possible that Google does not rank an internal page of your site for more than 1 or 2 keywords at a time?

I'm currently doing some SEO for a lawyer that wants to be ranked as a Matrimonial lawyer, a Family Law Lawyer and a Divorce Lawyer. It's the same thing so all the stuff is on the same page. He has a decent ranking on matrimonial lawyer, but it seems that Google is not able to rank him at all on the two other keywords. He appeared in the rankings once but it was with the site's homepage, even though the word "divorce" was not mentioned there.

I know I need to do some more backlinking and bla bla... but is it "possible" to rank well on three competitive keywords on one internal page? (that has lots of content)

Its possible if you craft the content t include these terms. If not, you will have to do it with backlinks, which today are risky.

There is no such limit fella. Add some pages on your site for your other keywords. Get interlink to your homepage from those new articles for other keywords. Do links for main page.
As long as you have interlink to your homepage from inner pages and you have links for homepage, i dont see any reason u should not rank.

So you do suggest to create adding pages to rank the keywords separately, vjchere... this is what my question was about, the possibility to rank 3 keywords with one page or not.

No, you shouldn't have such problems, especially if you optimized the title tag for those keywords. But remember thay if they all contain the same word (lawyer), it's better not to reply it too many times.

Maybe the homepage is better optimized for those keywords or has more link with them in anchor texts?

Trying to rank for all 3 keywords on the same page will be difficult if they're competitive terms, since your title, h1's, and img alts will be diluted compared to someone who has similar content concentrated on 3 separate pages.

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but for optimal results I would manually rewrite the content 3 times for 90%+ uniqueness(maintaining readability), then link out to the three separate pages you create from the footer of the current page, keeping them out of the primary navigation structure (to maintain user friendliness).

There's no limit, but in perfection the page should contain only 1 main keyword and the rest of the adjoining keywords, for example like- "watch movies" as the main keyword, and then "watch movies online" and "watch movies online for free", and "where to watch movies online", then the promotion of every keyword would contribute to the promotion of main keyword.

And though there are no limits for the keywords for which the page may be ranking, the competition for the keywords can be way too different, and the backlinks profile enough to beat your competition for keyword A maybe not enough for the keyword B. Thus, it's recommended to split the search queries between different pages, as you will have better insights and the promotion might be easier.

in my experience, long content with images and video if possible, can help rank for other keywords depending on the competition. use an analysis tool that shows the da/pa/pr etc of those in the top 10, as well as keyword competitiveness, can help you determine if you can rank for these terms. its not just your on page seo it is the off page competitiveness of that search phrase. once you know what the competition has, you can see if you can beat them.
