Legit Flippa experiences as a buyer?

I'm just curious here... I've been doing this stuff for a long time and generally feel comfortable understanding the value of a domain/site/business. Most of the stuff that I see on Flippa and Website Broker, it's just like a riddle that I'm solving until eventually settling on "yeah, come on dude". Either a clear mass-flipping scam, a newish business that is illegal / unsustainable, or somebody that poured 2 years into a vaporware web app and wants 6 figures.

That's not to say that I haven't successfully bought sites before, just not off Flippa.

So my question is this: who here has stories of being on the buying end on Flippa / a similar site, and making it profitable in < 2 years? Any epic success stories of hitting a positive ROI on a nice hands-off passive income toy? Do you have any tips for catching the "right" ones and pulling it out of the masses of crap?

When I first started my quest to make money online, I found that site we now as Flippa.

I looked around and decided to buy a site that sold fb likes, twitter followers and yt views.

Now this was before the fiverr craze so people were looking for these things.

It was great after a few weeks I made my first online sale of $60 for some fb likes.

I was to busy and got rid of it after a few months but I for sure made my money back.

I dont know the quailty of flippa now a days but I assume its pretty shity considerinh people just build websites and sell them on Flippa for the purpose of fast cash.

Always ask as money questions as possiple to the seller and also get them to prove data like anaylitcs, backlinks and sale proof etc.

Very interested in hearing about new flippa experiences, I've been so close to pulling the trigger a few times. Especially on big ticket items...I'd love to hear some experiences, I've been too scared to pull the trigger.

Plenty of experiences already listed here. Start reading. If you pull the trigger without good DD don't come crying if you lose your money. The "I got scammed" threads from noobs purchasing websites without doing their DD is getting a bit old.

I've bought a fair few decent sites off Flippa over the last 3 years and sold a fair few as well, and know many others who have. So saying that no decent properties get listed on Flippa is definitely inaccurate.

The key to buying through Flippa is getting to the point where you can quickly filter through all of the rubbish (common scam attempts, faked or inflated traffic/revenue, over-SEO'ed sites, sites established yesterday, etc.) and only spend time looking through listings that are possibly decent. There are no quick tips that can be given on this though - it all comes with experience.

With that said, based on "and making it profitable in < 2 years" I'm assuming that you're looking at "turn-key" sites that aren't already generating profit? If so, stop right there. 99% of those sites aren't worth anything and the majority of them will never generate more than $2 a month. If they would, then the serial sellers would operate their profitable sites, rather than flocking out new ones and offloading them on Flippa for $100 a pop. Only look for sites that are ALREADY profitable and come with history.

Looks like you win the biggest douchebag award... I actually suspect I've been doing this for quite a lot longer than you. The search tool on these boards, and the top 20 pages on the "site flipping" forum, seems to only cover selling right now though... mostly in amazingly unimaginative ways I might add. I thought we could handle just one fresh conversation about successful buying on a website auction site. This forum is titled "site flipping" after all.

Would you be willing to share examples of wins? That's what I'm probing for here. I've bought sites non-Flippa too and it's worked out. I've not bought anything on Flippa and had it not work out, because all I seem to find is garbage. I just want to know how/if people have made it work.

I would never buy a turnkey website. For a third time, including my initial post: I understand the hustles. I was talking about ROI. If you spend $5000 on a site, how long until you made it back. How long until your total investment of buying the site, value of time spent to clean it up, plus any extra odesk type services, yielded a return.

I won't enter into an e-dick measuring contest with you. It's not me that's asking how to do correct DD and purchase successful websites with nice ROIs. I have plenty of posts on here with "gotchas" showing members what to look for when considering a website. I've spent a considerable amount of time sharing just a bit of what I know about Flippa. You've missed all that information I suppose.

I can tell you detailed information on just about any major seller on Flippa. I can tell you what niches are most successful, what websites sell the best, what listings methods work and why. There are only a few people I know that actually study site flipping as detailed as I've explained and frankly none of them will spoon-feed you experience we took years to accumulate. If you are so smart then get in there and get your hands dirty for a few years and come back and share what you learned.

While you might have done this longer than I have I don't see your posts sharing a damn thing. So before you boast of your experience maybe you should show us a bit of what you know. I've shared plenty and have plenty more to share. Before you come here trying to take something maybe you should share something. I'm not sure why anyone would help someone that is obviously only here to leech information. Good luck to you.

All I said was that I recognized that every listing popping up now was either a dishonest scam (of one of a handful of types), or extremely overvalued, because I am a veteran with this stuff, and you came in with a bunch of condescending "don't come crying to me when you get scammed" bs. I don't give a shit about your post count, you just provided nothing of value to this discussion.
